Head coach of the Nigeria U23 team Eric Chelle has called up players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) ahead of the start of preparations for the U23 AFCON qualifiers.
We can exclusively reveal that Chelle who also doubles as the head coach of the senior national team will assess the players over a period of two weeks, before trimming the number ahead of the November game against DR Congo.
Chelle is aiming for Nigeria to qualify for the Los Angeles Olympic football event, with their last participation coming in the 2016 edition. His intention is to begin early camping with the players based in Nigeria.
The coach has already used the 3-3 friendly game against Russia two weeks ago to run the rule on some foreign based players, who intend to use as the base of his team.
They will be joined by other foreign based in the final list, and the players from the NPFL teams who are expected in camp later this week will also have players in the final list.
