The president of Turkish side Bursaspor has opened the door for a potential January transfer of Kelechi Iheanacho to league giants Fenerbahce, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Iheanacho has been the star of the second division side since his free summer transfer from Celtic. He set a new record in Turkish football by scoring in 12 consecutive league games.
A run that saw him score 16 goals in 12 games, before it game to an end yesterday in their 3-0 win over Bandırmaspor. A win that help them to stay top of the table and in line for promotion.
However the president of the club Enes Çelik says they will be unfair to stop the 30 year old from making a January transfer move, despite his usefulness to their charge for promotion.
“If a poll were conducted right now, 99% of our fans would not want Iheanacho to be sold. I understand this, but we have to act not only emotionally but also rationally”, he said so while reacting to reports of a potential January transfer to Fenerbahce.
“I want Iheanacho to stay with the team more than anyone. He’s a player who can score even without a clear chance. However, if very high offers come in, we will evaluate them as management. He himself wants to bring serious transfer revenue to the club. There is no release clause in his contract.”
