Young Nigerian goalkeeper Hassan Sani cried when he was told by his UAE club Al Ain that he isn’t permitted to play for the U23 team of Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
The 20 year old was contacted by head coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle to be a part of the team that drew 3-3 against Russia in an international friendly game, largely prosecuted by players of the U23 team of Nigeria.
However he turned down the invitation because of a law that forbids foreign goalkeepers from playing in the league. He has also been granted UAE citizenship.
” He ( Sani) was in tears when he was told he can’t play for Nigeria else he will lose his spot at the club and also his career. His dream has always been to play for Nigeria but sadly his main option now is to play for the UAE”,.his representative said.
” Somethings happen that you can’t control and that is how life is. You can’t always get what you want but it’s only normal to make the best of what you have at the moment”.
