Reports came out over the weekend that on loan Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is in talks to switch his nationality from England to the senior national team of Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
The reports went viral especially when the 19 year old followed the social media account of the Super Eagles, and also that of the Nigeria Football Federation in the wake of the reports.
However he quickly unfollowed both pages, and we decided to contact a source close to head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle on the authenticity of the reports.
” It’s false, because when when talks were held Ethan made it clear that he wants to make the best of his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund. A top team in a top league with the hope of getting back in favour at Arsenal”, he said.
” Since that first meeting there have been no contact at least none happened recently to my notice. So I think people are just getting to know that he has been contacted not like he has made a decision”, he stated.
