Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has accepted that his much preferred diamond formation has to be addressed whenever the team plays away from home, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Chelle is a big advocate of the system and sees it as the best to utilise the avalanche of attacking talents available to Nigeria, and it worked to good effect at the AFCON even though they finished third.

However in the last round of games in the AFCON qualifiers, he was forced to switch in the first half of the 2-1 comeback win against Madagascar, and the formation failed spectacularly in the 0-3 defeat to Guinea-Bissau.

Ahead of the next round of games in the qualifiers against Tanzania, the coach has accepted that the formation can’t be used in all games particularly with teams that usually sit deep or play on bad pitches.

Already the coach has told his close circle that the change is imminent to ensure that the team get their campaign back on track, with a possible six points against Tanzania.
