Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been left out of the Super Eagles team for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers games against Tanzania, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Okoye who has a habit of arriving late to camp for international games did the same last time out, arriving on the day of the game against Madagascar. He was given an extra day off but instead spent two days extra.
Chelle hinted at disciplinary actions against the 27 year old and has taken the first step by leaving him out of the back to back games against Tanzania on the 13th and 17th of November respectively.
In his place, the coach handed a recall to Francis Uzoho alongside Arthur Okonkwo and Stanley Nwabali, who is expected to keep his spot as the first choice goalkeeper for the games.
It could mark the end of Okoye’s international career with Nigeria. In the past he has opted to be left out of games like the world cup qualifiers playoff against Ghana in 2022 and also the last two editions of the AFCON.
