The U23 team of Nigeria won their second test game ahead of the U23 AFCON qualifiers games against DR Congo next weekend, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Tutored by the head coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle, they have been in camp for two weeks and the team largely made up of players from Nigerian league teams will be joined by foreign based players next week.

In their first test game, they drew 0-0 with Remo Stars but turned on the style yesterday to beat non league side Grassrunners 3-1.

The floodgate of goals was opened by Abdulmuiz Adeleke with a trademark finish, very similar to the manner that he scored his goals at the U20 WAFU B tournament.

His captain at that tournament, Simoen Habila made it 2-0 by stabbing home a sweeping team move, before Grassrunners pulled a goal back with a ferocious header that Michael Atata parried into his net.

Just when it seems like the game was going to end in that fashion, Warri Wolves midfielder Eventus Towo scored with a spectacular long range effort to seal a comfortable win for the Nigerian team.

We can also reveal that the team will travel to Lubumbashi for the first leg against DR Congo next Friday, before the second leg on November 17 in Ikenne.
