Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has settled for a replacement for Victor Osimhen who won’t be available for Nigeria in the AFCON qualifiers games against Tanzania, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Osimhen was ruled out of the back to back games on the 13th and 17th of November respectively due to a complain in his knees that requires a medical procedure.
Chelle has already picked three forwards in Akor Adams, George Ilenikhena and Osimhen for the game before it was revealed yesterday that he won’t be available for the game.
While the top option to replace the 27 year old is Ajax striker Tolu Arokodare, Chelle still has his sights on Bursaspor forward Kelechi Iheanacho who has 17 goals in 14 games this season.
Sources say Chelle was very impressed with the way Iheanacho responded when he was called to join the team for the 3-3 draw against Russia, which he scored the opener.
A final decision is expected to be made later today, when the list will be made public by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
