0

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has confirmed that not all players invited for the Super Eagles get together in France will make the squad for the friendly game against Corsica Island.

As many as ‎30 players are expected to make the trip to France with the Super Eagles, but that number will be trimmed after the team’s training session, Rohr has confirmed.

Nigeria will play a test game against the tiny Island, three days after their camp opens in France, but the coach has confirmed that some players will be dropped from the team before the friendly on the 26th.

“We will play against Corsica and we will have about 20 to 23 players. But not all the players will come with us to Paris on May 23 when we meet before proceeding to Ajaccio in Corsica, where the game will be played.

The game will give fringe players of the team, the chance to stake a claim in the squad for the AFCON 2017 qualifiers against South Africa on the 10th of June.

Video – Alampasu Celebrates Eagles Recall With Penalty Save For Portuguese Side

0

Nigerian shot stopper Dele Alampasu celebrated his recall to the Super Eagles by stopping a penalty for his Portuguese side Cesarense despite their 0-3 loss to Agueda.

Alampasu dived to the left to smartly stop Agueda from scoring another goal in their 3-0 romp over Cesarense, where Alampasu was in goal for the 13th time this season.

The 20 year old joined the third division side on a season long loan from top division side CD Feirense, and after a whirlwind start to his career lost his first team spot after returning late from international assignment with Nigeria.

Omitted from Nigeria’s last squad for the camping and friendly game against Senegal in March, the goalkeeper who was voted the best goalkeeper at the U-17 World Cup in 2013 has been handed a recall to the team ahead of their training camp in France.

There’s every tendency that he will make his senior debut for Nigeria, with doubts surrounding the availability of first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and second choice Daniel Akpeyi.

Exclusive – Chelsea Ola Aina Can’t Play For Nigeria Against South Africa Until England……

0

The international future of Chelsea upcoming defender Ola Aina is far from resolved despite the start of the process of his international switch from England to Nigeria.

England youth international Aina has already written to FIFA to start the process of his international switch, but it’s still unclear if it will be processed before Nigeria’s game against South Africa on the 10th of June.

The process of his switch is not as straightforward as many anticipated as it involves series of communication between the Nigeria FA, FIFA and the English FA.

Already Aina has taken the first step by telling England and FIFA of his intention to switch allegiance to Nigeria. FIFA will write to England, who are then suppose to send Aina’s papers to the Nigerian FA.

England need to transfer his registration to Nigeria by sending his papers, which Nigeria will now send to FIFA for procession, which usually takes ten days to complete barring international games.

For now, the speed at which England transfer his international registration to Nigeria, will determine his involvement in Nigeria’s game against South Africa in June.

Eagles Goalkeeper Crisis – Orlando Pirates Emmanuel Daniel Placed On Standby By Rohr

0

In a bid to avoid the drama that made Nigeria to call up an emergency goalkeeper during their last training camp in London, the technical crew of the Super Eagles have placed ex Nigeria U-23 safe hands Emmanuel Daniel on standby.

The Super Eagles are to have a training camp in France later in the month, but there are doubts over the availability of two of their regular shot stoppers for various reasons.

Carl Ikeme is still injured, while second choice shot stopper Daniel Akpeyi might miss the get together due to club engagement, for now only Dele Alampasu and Ikechukwu Ezenwa are sure bet to join the team in France.

Considering the fact that Nigeria will take on Corsica Island in a friendly game on the 26th of May, coach Gernot Rohr feels there’s a need for a third goalkeeper.

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel who has trained with the team in the past has been placed on standby by the technical crew, pending on when they get an update on the fitness of Ikeme.

Daniel is yet to play a game for Pirates due to registration issues, but Rohr wants to work with almost same pool of players he has worked with in the past, hence his decision to include him in the squad despite his inaction at club level.

Exclusive – Why Gernot Rohr Dropped Chelsea Ola Aina From Super Eagles Squad For France Camp

0

Chelsea upcoming full back Ola Aina won’t be joining the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their training camp in France, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Aina won’t be involved in the training after coach of Chelsea Antonio Conte included him in his plans for the FA Cup final tie against Arsenal on the 27th of May.

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is a big fan of the full back after his impressive performance in training when the Super Eagles converge for two friendly games last month, but only played once against Senegal after Burkina Faso failed to show up for the second game due to visa issues to London.

Aina was heavily tipped to make his debut for Nigeria in a friendly game for Nigeria against Corsica Island on the 26th of May, but Chelsea’s FA Cup commitment means he will be excused from the camping.

Aina, Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi have been permitted by Rohr to miss the France camp, which was organised to help the players prepare adequately well for their AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa in June.

Revealed – The Date FC Porto Will Make A Decision On Nigerian Trialist Mustapha Buba

0

Portuguese giants FC Porto have set a date for a decision on the fate of Nigerian trailist Mustapha Buba, who has been with the club for over a month.

Buba has been training with the U19s of the Portuguese side, but a decision on his fate has been severally deferred as the club want to sort out the issues of players who will be released in the summer.

May 3rd was therefore set as the day a decision will be reached on his possible signing or not. Although he has impressed the technical crew of the team, the Kaduna born midfield maestro will only be signed if there’s a vacuum in the midfield.

Even if FC Porto opt against signing the 18 year old, he won’t be short of suitors as Pacos Ferreira and SC Braga are reportedly waiting for Porto to make a decision before deciding their next line of action.

The FC Heart prospect, will most likely become the seventh Nigerian on the payroll of the club, as they already have Mikel Agu, Chidozie Awaziem, Musa Yahaya, Fidelis Irhene, Chidera Ezeh ‎and Moses John in their ranks.

Exclusive – Lokeren In Pole Position To Sign Theophilus Solomon Despite Late Interest From Roda JC

0

Belgium top division side Lokeren are still the front runners to sign Nigerian forward Theophilus Solomon despite a late push by Dutch side Roda JC.

The Technical Director of Lokeren met with Theophilus Solomon who is on loan to NK Istra from league leaders Rijeka, and they had fruitful discussion in Croatia regarding a move in the summer.

However last week Roda JC Kerkrade joined the hunt for the forward who has 7 goals this season, and reports has it that a scout from the team watched Solomon in action against Hajduk Split yesterday.

Despite the interest from the Dutch side, who are obviously going to be him more than what he might possibly earn at Lokeren, Lokeren are still in the driving seat to sign him.

Lokeren’s Technical Director shares close ties with Solomon, and their relationship could see him lure the forward who appears to be finally delivering on the promises that made him a target of Italian giants Juventus when he was 17.

MFM Deny Celtic, Copenhagen Interest In Odey, Confirms Contract Offer From FK Krasnodar

0

Nigeria Professional Football League side MFM FC have categorically denied reports about a bid from Scottish champions Celtic for top striker Stephen Odey.

A club source who spoke to Owngoalnigeria.com revealed the club have only received one offer for the 19 year old, and it came from Russian side FK Krasnodar.

” We read these things and laugh over it. So far only Kuban Krasnodar have been in touch officially. They sent us a mail which contained an offer for Odey. So I wonder where talks about Celtic came from,” he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” FC Copenhagen offered to have him on trail, through an agent but his manager said Odey won’t be going for any trials. Talking about Celtic those peddling the rumours should know that Odey is not qualified for a work permit yet.

” He will leave for Russia before the end of the week. He is going for negotiations with FK Krasnodar and that has been agreed on by the management, so for now that is our stand.”
