Sikiru Olatubosun of Nigeria Premier League side MFM is in line for global recognition with his spectacular goal for MFM against Enugu Rangers on Friday night in contention for the CNN goal of the week.

Olatuboson brilliantly controlled a pass before flicking the ball over the head of his marker, and his quick turn saw him evade the defender before lashing an unstoppable drive into the net without the ball dropping from his initial flick.

His goal which came in MFM 2-1 win over Rangers, was yesterday the talking point on international TV station FOX Sports, with an article on their site already tipping the strike as one of the best of the weekend.

The CNN goal of the week award will be handed out on Monday after the conclusion of games all round the globe, and if he wins it, It will be the first time a goal from the Nigeria Premier League to win the award.

However Kelechi Iheanacho is the first and only Nigerian to have won the award for his strike for Nigeria against Tanzania in a dead rubber AFCON 2017 qualifiers tie in Uyo.

Italian-Nigerian forward Franklyn Akammadu was the star for the Primavera side of Cesena scoring twice to help them draw 2-2 against his former side Fiorentina.

Hot in demand Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru scored his second goal in three games, which ended as his 12th of the season to help Eupen beat Lokeren 2-1.

Kenneth Omeruo continued his fine form for his loan side Alanyaspor with a goal in their 3-1 win over Adanaspor in a Turkish Super Lig game.

Former Leicester City forward Gary Lineker who holds the record for the most goals for an English man at the World Cup has slammed sacked Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri for his trust in Ahmed Musa which lead to his sack.

Ranieri was reportedly fired for starting the Nigerian ahead of Demarai Gray against Sevilla, a decision which angered the senior players of Leicester City and lead to the axing of the manager.

Lineker who is however unhappy with the decision to sack the coach, was however critical of his blind trust in the former CSKA Moscow man Musa, who has failed to live up to his price tag since his move from Russia.

Friday night games in various European leagues witnessed games involving teams with Nigerian players on their books.

In Turkey Godfrey Obaboana, Bright Edomwonyi and Nosa Igiebor started for Rizespor, with Edomwonyi leaving the pitch in the 68th minute as they crash to a 2-4 loss to visiting Kayserispor, with Raheem Lawal among the goal scorers for the visitors.

Lawal was however substituted in the 69th minute after a nasty kick to his head in the game which Igiebor set up the opener for his team, who ended the game with 10 men following a red card.

Still in Turkey, Hungarian-Nigerian defender Kenneth Otigba was an unused substitute for Kasimpasa in their 4-0 win over Bursaspor with Samuel Emem Eduok coming on for Kasimpasa with seven minutes left to play.

In Germany, Victor Osimhen missed Wolfsburg 1-2 loss to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga while in the second division Suleiman Abdullahi replaced Dominik Kumbela as his team Eintracht Braunschweig secure all three points against Sandhausen.

Meanwhile George Akpabio got off the mark for his new side Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem scoring on the dot of regulation time to round up a comprehensive 4-0 win over Maccabi Herzliya in the Isreali second division.
