0

Owngoalnigeria.com understands that coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has penciled down a possible list of five players he intends to call up for the friendly against Cameroon.

However contrary to public speculations, Chelsea teen forward Dominic Solanke is not included as he is yet to agree to a potential switch of international career from England, where he is a youth international to Nigeria.

Rohr is wary of a repeat of the drama that happened when Tyroone Ebuehi turned down the chance to team up with the Super Eagles during the last World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Algeria.

” We want to avoid a repeat of what happened last time out with Ebuehi, so Solanke won’t be called up, at least for now until talks and grey areas are ironed out properly”, a source close to the coach told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” For now Olarenwaju Kayode, Anthony Nwakaeme, Victor Anichebe, David Nwokolor and Isacc Success if he is fit, are the players most likely to be in the squad for the friendly game against Senegal”.

The experience of the 25 year old will be vital to Cameroon’s hope of rescuing their bad start to the World Cup qualifiers campaign after two draws from their opening two games.

Cameroon are second in group B, four points behind leaders Nigeria and both team will clash in back to back game next year, a game that could potentially end Cameroon’s hope of qualifying for the World Cup in Russia base on the result of the games.

0

The international career of German Nigerian brothers Patrick and Marvin Ajani, who are presently playing for FC Wegberg-Beeck and Hallescher FC respectively are putting in their best to gain international recognition from Nigeria.

The coach of the Nigeria team Gernot Rohr has expressed his unhappiness over the lack of depth in the full back positions of the Super Eagles, but the duo still have a lot to do, to force their way into his plans.

They will have to move up to teams in a division higher than where they are playing now, if they want to catch the attention of the German coach of the team, who is keen on luring Nigerian players born abroad to play for the Super Eagles.

While 27 year old Patrick is a centre back or left back and plays in the fifth tier in Germany, 23 year old Marvin plays for third tier side Hallescher FC as a right back.

As it stands only Marvin is presently under consideration from the manager who has monitored his progress, but still believe his chances are slim unless he move to a club playing in a division higher than where he is playing now.

Why Tosin Adarabioyo And Other Man City Stars Call Iheanacho “Uncle”

0

On September 13 2015 after Kelechi Iheanacho scored a last minute winning goal for Manchester City against Crystal Palace in an English Premier League game, Social media went overboard when Sterling called the 19 year old “Uncle” in a tweet congratulating him for his goal that gifted them all three points on twitter.

The tweets lead to a whole lot of insinuations which some even saying the tweet brings to question the real age of the Nigerian for Sterling who is older than him to refer to him as uncle.

Same debate was reignited when Anglo Nigerian Tosin Adarabioyo referred to the 20 year old as “Uncle”once again, after smashing his record as Manchester City youngest debutant in the UEFA Champions League.

However in our traditional way of unraveling the mystery behind most stories owngoalnigeria.com can authoritatively reveal that the tweet had nothing to do with his age rather it’s the nickname most of the senior players call the Nigerian who refers to most of them as “uncle” in training.

The word uncle is mostly used in Nigeria to refer to someone who is older during conversation and not necessarily what it means in the real sense and Iheanacho use the word very well in most of his chats with the senior players who in turn jokingly refer to him as uncle once in a while.

Sterling’s tweet was more of the same joke from the training pitch whenever the Nigerian is talked about by senior players of the team and nothing close to all that have been speculated.

Iwobi and Iheanacho are usually roommates in the Nigerian national team, with Iwobi citing the jovial and funny nature of the Manchester City star as one of the reason why he is his favourite roommate.

Shortly after the duo found the back of the net for their respective teams in the UEFA Champions League, the media officer of the Nigeria national team Toyin Ibitoye took to twitter to reveal the nickname the duo are called by their teammates.

” Roommates in @NGSuperEagles camp, called “Tom and Jerry’ for their ‘playful’ nature but @67Kelechi (Iheanacho) and @Alexiwobi do score goals,” Ibitoye posted on his twitter handle.
