DUTCH-NIGERIANS: Ehizibue Disappoints As Ebuehi Shows Why Nigeria Coach Wants Him

0

It was a tale of different tales for different folks for the Dutch-Nigerian duo of Kingsley Ehizibue and Tyroone Ebuehi in the Dutch Eredivisie for their respective teams even though they both suffered defeats.

Both players have been approached by Nigeria to switch allegiance to Nigeria at senior level as manager Gernot Rohr continue his building of the team he met on ground.

Ehizibue was on the losing side with PEC Zwolle as they crash to a 1-3 loss to Vitesse, the 21 year old who has turned down any chance of representing Nigeria in the future had a game to forget.

The Dutch youth international was guilty of losing his marker for the second goal his side conceded, and a poor clearance in the first half had his side rocking although they didn’t concede from the error.

However while Ebuehi, who according to Rohr has pledged to honour Nigeria’s invitation after snubbing the first call up ended up on the losing side as well, his performance was one of the best among his teammate.

Operating from his role as a wingback he was very good at doing the defensive duties for his team and also joining the attack when he needs to, especially when they were chasing the game.

The 20 year old made five clearance and twice crossed the ball at the other half for his teammates who failed to make the decisive touch, which could have changed the outcome of the game.

One time top scorer in the Nigeria Professional League Emem Eduok scored his first goal for his loan side Kasimpasa but ended up on the losing side as they fell 1-2 to Galatasary.

The former Nigeria youth international drew Kasimpasa level, after Lukas Poldoski has given Gala an early lead in the sixth minute of the game decided by by a 59th minute strike by Jeffrey Bruma.

Eduok lasted 67 minutes before he was withdrawn taking his appearances this season to nine in the league following his loan move from Tunisian side Esperance.

While Eduok will be sad that his first goal wasn’t good enough to help his team pick a point, his fellow Nigerian at the team Kenneth Otigba fared worst as he was dismissed for two bookable offences less than 20 minutes to the end of the team.

Otigba was booked twice in two minutes in what was his 12 appearance in the league for the team he joined this summer from Dutch side Heerenveen.

The 24 year old has represented Hungary at youth level to the extent of captaining their U-17 but he has long switched his allegiance to Nigeria at senior level.

VIDEO: Iheanacho Escalated The Issue That Lead To Fernandinho & Fabregas Brawl – Neville

0

Former Manchester United ace Phil Neville says Nigerian teen Kelechi Iheanacho, is partly to be blamed for the brawl that lead to the scuffle between Chelsea Cesc Fabregas and Fernadinho.

City were trailing Chelsea 1-3 at home when Sergio Kun Aguero got sent off for a wild lunge on David Luiz while trying to initiate an attack late into the game.

The veracity of the tackle lead to arguments among the players with Iheanacho the first of City players to arrive at the scene pushing Fabregas away aggressively before Fernandinho stepped in.

” Iheanacho arrived at the scene and escalated the issue. He wasn’t trying to bring calm to the brawl, Fernandinho deserves his sending off but Fabregas should be suspended as well for slapping the Brazilian” Neville said while reviewing the video of the incident on Premier League show Match Day Live.

REVEALED – How Chelsea (Mourinho) Stopped Carlton Cole From Representing Nigeria In 2004

0

33 year old English footballer Carlton Cole would have represented Nigeria when he was called up in 2004 were it not for his then club Chelsea and manager Jose Mourinho.

12 years ago, 20 year old Cole was called up by Nigeria to play for the Super Eagles in a friendly game against the Republic of Ireland, but he spurned the chance after a chat with manager Jose Mourinho.

Although he went on to become a big hit with the England U20s, he never truly made the step up to the senior teams of the Three Lions of England, but he says he has no regret turning down Nigeria even though he could have had a better International career with the Super Eagles.

“I was called up by Nigeria in 2004 but Chelsea told me that it was in my best interests not to go,” Cole said.

“They said it would affect my England future and interfere with things at club level as well. As a young player I was advised not to take up the Nigeria offer and I supported that.

“They want players with Nigerian links who have played in the Premiership but I was born in England and consider that to be my country so I want to play for them.

“I could have been playing alongside Kanu whom I know through his heart foundation and have been to a number of functions in connection with that.

“I look up to him. He’s one of the best players in the world and if I achieve half as much as he has done, then I would be very happy.”

Cole admitted: “My father is Nigerian and my mother comes from Sierra Leone but I’ve never been a follower of Nigeria and my interest in African football is only occasional.

Aguero’s Suspension – Time To Unleash Iheanacho, City Legend Tells Guardiola

0

Former Manchester City forward Shaun Goater believes the expected four match ban for forward Sergio Kun Aguero will give Pep Guardiola enough reason to play Nigerian teen Kelechi Iheanacho.

Iheanacho has played few times this season as Aguero has put aside his fitness issues, but his sending off in yesterday’s 1-3 defeat at the hands of Chelsea could see him miss as much as four games.

The red card was the second of the season for the Argentine and he will be out for an additional one game after the mandatory three games for the dismissal.

” He is like the heart and soul of the team in attack, but when you have a youngster like Iheanacho waiting on the wings, you worry less about his absence” Goater said.

” Iheanacho has a crazy record, a respected one for a 20 year old in a team like Man City and the Premier League. This could be the time he has been waiting for to enhance his reputation.

” Guardiola knows him and I believe his faith in him will be tested now that Aguero is to serve a four game suspension”.

Cesena Young Italian Goal King Franklyn Reveals Nigerian Roots – I Am A Nigerian

Highly rated Italian forward Franklyn Akkamadu who has seven goals for the Primavera team of Cesena has put to an end speculations surrounding his nationality.

The 18 year old who is born in Padua, Italy to Nigerian parents, in an interview with respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio said his parents left Nigeria for Italy for better fortunes before he was born.

” I was born in Padua by Nigerian parents. They moved to Italy to improve their living condition few years before I was born, I have lived in Italy all my life” Akkamadu told Di Marzio.

The forward who has twice been named on the bench by the main team of the Serie B side in league games this season, listed Samuel Eto’o as his role model but even at that said Robert Lewandoski inspires him as well.

His international future will no doubt put Nigeria and Italy at loggerheads, although he is yet to be sounded out by any of the country.

Rohr – Sunderland Forward Anichebe Will Be In The Next Super Eagles Squad, Worried Over Ighalo’s Form

0

Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says Sunderland forward Victor Anichebe will be a part of his next call up to the team.

The 28 year old last played for Nigeria in 2012 after deciding to quit the Nigeria national team, but he later rescinded his decision in 2014 but since then he is yet to be called up by handlers of the team.

Anichebe’s run of games and goals for the Premier League strugglers has caught the attention of the German coach of Nigeria, who is now set to honour him with a call up to the national team.

” His inclusion is well merited. He is doing very well in a top league for a top team, it’s only naturally we call him up. Am happy for him, he will add a lot to how we play” Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Rohr is however worried over the poor form of Odion Ighalo of Watford, who has fallen out of favour and now has to be contented with a role on the bench.

” Ighalo’s situation is worrisome, he is one of our top players so we need him to be at his best for his club, but that is not the case right now but am backing him to return back to his best form soon”.
