Arsenal ladies forward Asisat Oshoala won the golden boot award at the Africa Women Championship which Nigeria won courtesy of a 1-0 win over host Cameroon.

Desire Oparanozie got the all important goal that gave Nigeria the title for the 8th time, a record which further confirms Nigeria’s dominance when it comes to female football in Africa.

However while Oparanozie stole the headline in the final game, Oshoala went home with the top scorer award, thanks to her six goals at the Championship.

Oshoala is one of the stars of female football in Nigeria and her recent feat puts her in same bracket like Perpetual Nkwocha and Mercy Akide, all legend of female football in Nigeria who won the golden boot.

Highly rated German born Nigerian defender Felix Uduokhai won the Man Of The Match Award (MOTM) after a commanding performance for 1860 Munich in their 1-0 win over Dynamo Dresden.

Uduokhai frustrated the forwards of Dynamo Dresden with interceptions, blocks and tackles to help his side keep a clean sheet and pick up all three points.

The NFF is currently chasing players of Nigerian descendant born abroad with names like Ola Aina, Jordon Ibe, Kingsley Ehizibue, Ovie Ejaria, Tammy Abrahams and Brian Idowu among the players already approached by the football house.

However a big wig in the football house Barrister Chris Green has revealed that other Nigerian players, who are relatively unknown have notified the NFF, and their names have been forwarded to the coach for consideration.

” We have been receiving mails from players of Nigerian descendants, they sent mails to let us know that they are available and willing to play for Nigeria”, Green told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” It is not for the NFF to decide, so we have forwarded their names to the coach. Mr Rohr will decide who gets called up after reviewing them. We are happy to see players abroad indicate their willingness to play for Nigeria”.
