Highly rated German born Nigerian defender Felix Uduokhai won the Man Of The Match Award (MOTM) after a commanding performance for 1860 Munich in their 1-0 win over Dynamo Dresden.

A late strike from Desire Oparanozie was all the Super Falcons of Nigeria needed to beat tournament host the Lioness of Cameroon 1-0 in the final of the Africa Women Championship.

Cameroon were guilty of poor finishing when they had the chance to take the lead in the final watched by a capacity crowd, which included the President of Cameroon Paul Biya.

While Nigerian shot stopper Alaba Jonathan was the busier of the two goalkeppers, it was her opposite number who was made to pick the ball out of her net for the only goal of the game.

NFF – Nigerian Players Born Abroad Have Been Sending Mails About Representing Nigeria

Players of Nigerian descendants born abroad have been sending e-mails to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) indicating their willingness to dump their country of birth and play for Nigeria at senior level.

The NFF is currently chasing players of Nigerian descendant born abroad with names like Ola Aina, Jordon Ibe, Kingsley Ehizibue, Ovie Ejaria, Tammy Abrahams and Brian Idowu among the players already approached by the football house.

However a big wig in the football house Barrister Chris Green has revealed that other Nigerian players, who are relatively unknown have notified the NFF, and their names have been forwarded to the coach for consideration.

” We have been receiving mails from players of Nigerian descendants, they sent mails to let us know that they are available and willing to play for Nigeria”, Green told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” It is not for the NFF to decide, so we have forwarded their names to the coach. Mr Rohr will decide who gets called up after reviewing them. We are happy to see players abroad indicate their willingness to play for Nigeria”.

Obaje Breaks Silence Over Spartak Moscow Move – I Did A Two Hour Medical After Scoring Twice In Test Games But…..

The top scorer in the recently concluded Nigeria Professional Football League Godwin Obaje of Wikki Tourist has broken his silence over the true state of his proposed move to Spartak Moscow of Russia.

Various reports has claimed that the 19 year old failed his medical while some are of the opinion that he didn’t impress the coaches during his trial period, but the forward insist none of that happened.

In an EXCLUSIVE chat with Owngoalnigeria.com in Kaduna, when he came to watch Wikki Tourist pre season game against local side KJ United, the soft spoken forward lifted the lid on his planned move abroad.

” I scored twice in a test game despite the cold, which I must say wasn’t easy for me to cope, but God almighty made it possible for me to do well in the game” Obaje told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” The club invited me over for a medical which lasted two hours, they say am fine I don’t have any issue but instead there are issues surrounding my impending transfer base on negotiations with my club in Nigeria.

” Am shock to read that I failed trials, some said I failed medicals. I have the medical report here with me to prove people doubting my story, but I won’t go that far.

” There’s a time frame for Spartak Moscow and I to conclude talks on a deal, if it doesn’t happen, I have other options lined up which the world will get to know very soon”.

Dutch Nigerian Ebuehi Is Behind Omeruo, Shehu & Ndidi – Rohr

Despite confirming assurances from the parents of Tyroone Ebuehi that the Dutch-Nigerian full back will honour the next call up he gets from Nigeria, coach Gernot Rohr insist he must fight for his shirt.

Ebuehi turned down the chance to be part of the Nigerian team that defeated Algeria 3-1 in the World Cup 2018 qualifiers, insisting on focusing on his club career with his Dutch side ADO Den Haag.

However Rohr confirmed that he has gotten assurances from the parents of the 20 year old that he will honour Nigeria’s call, the next time an invitation is extended to him.

” It’s true that his parents gave me assurances on his readiness to play for Nigeria, the next time he is called up. That doesn’t mean he will automatically pick up a shirt” Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com.
