Little Known Nigerian Forward Osawe Scores Fourth Goal In Two League Games In Germany

0

Former Blackburn Rovers striker Osayamen Osawe who scored a hattrick five days ago for German side Kaiserslautern scored the winner as they edge Greuther Furth 1-0.

The goal was his fourth in two games but his fifth overall this season, with the hattrick against Bochum on Monday complementing his goal against Dynamo Dresden.

He joined Kaiserslautern in the summer from third division side Hallescher FC where he spent three seasons, and opened his goal account for his new side against them in a cup tie.

23 year old Osawe was born in Nigeria but moved to England at a very young age which qualifies him to represent them at international level.

However he is yet to be called up by any nation, but a call up to the Super Eagles looks more likely for the forward, as the German coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr is reportedly keeping close tabs on him.

No Clean Sheet For Alampasu This Season But Here Is Why Rohr Called Him Up For Algeria Clash

0

Former Nigeria youth international shot stopper Dele Alampasu has been handed a recall by manager of the Nigeria senior national team Gernot Rohr, ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Algeria.

As reported by Owngoalnigeria.com the on loan CD Feirense goalkepper is in the list of 25 players submitted by Rohr for the November 12 tie, an inclusion that shocked many.

The 19 year old is still searching for his first clean sheet of the season after five league games for Portuguese third division side Casarense , where he is on a six month loan.

Research done by our editorial team has it that he got the nod, as the German coach of the team always wants his third choice goalkepper to be the youngest among the goalkeppers at his disposal.

Alampasu stands little or no chance of been in goal against Algeria, just like Rio 2016 Olympic shot stopper Emmanuel Daniel in the last two games of the team.

Carl Ikeme and Daniel Akpeyi are highly favoured to be between the sticks for Nigeria against Algeria in Uyo, with Alampasu having an outside chance of making the 18 man match day squad.

0

Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways in the English Premier League by lunch time when they take on troubled Sunderland.

The Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw by Middlesbrough in their last Premier League clash. A result which cost them the chance to go top of the league standings despite results elsewhere going their way.

Ahead of the tie against Sunderland, Arsene Wenger has reportedly made changes to his team, with Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi set to be replaced in the starting line up by Alex Oxlade Chamberlain.

Chamberlain has been in good form of late for the Gunners, scoring a brace in their Tuesday Cup win over Reading, in addition to his strike against Ludogorets Razgard in the UEFA Champions League.

While Egyptian midfielder Mohammed El-Nenny will make way for the returning Santi Carzola, who missed last week clash due to an injury but trained normally with the rest of the squad yesterday.

However Dutch-Nigerian Tyronne Ebuehi could miss out as exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com as he is yet to be issued a Nigerian passport. But Russian born Nigerian Brian Idowu has no such problem and he is included.

Gernot Rohr is yet to decide on who gets the back up central defence slot between Granada Uche Agbo and Rizespor Godfrey Obabaoana, a decision which could however be made before the end of the weekend.

John Ogu is in the squad at the expense of Nosa Igiebor and Anderson Esiti with Wilfred Ndidi abilities to play in midfield and defence also a factor used in axing the aforementioned duo.

Algerian Journalist: The Pace Of Nigeria Attack Will Be Too Much For Our Slow Defenders To Handle, It’s Scary

0

Veteran Algerian journalist Raidi Mazher has pointed out the lack of pace in the Algerian backline as an area of weakness Nigeria could exploit when both teams meet in Uyo on the 12th of November.

Raidi pointed out that, the centre defence pairing of skipper Carl Medjani and Liasinne Camaduro, are not the sort of pair a team would love to line up against the pacy Nigerians.

” One area of concern for Algeria ahead of the game in Nigeria is the central defence. It’s no secret that Camaduro and Medjani are not the quickest, and with the pace of the Nigerians. I fear the worst” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” We are well covered on the left and right side of our defence with Faouzi Ghoulam and Mehdi Zeffane, they will have more to do in covering up for the central defence.

” My major worry is the full backs also have speed demons to tender to in the Nigerian wingers, Victor Moses, Moses Simon, Ahmed Musa and Alex Iwobi are all lighting quick, so when the full backs cover up. We could be exploited by the gap they create. It’s a concern”.

NFF President Pinnick Reveals Information On Russian Born Nigerian Idowu, Shed More Light On Plans To Lure Chelsea Tammy Abraham And Liverpool Ejaria To The Super Eagles

0

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has reacted to reports about Nigeria’s plan to lure England youth international duo Tammy Abraham of Chelsea and Ovie Ejaria of Liverpool. The NFF supremo also took time out to speak on the chances of Russian born Nigerian Brian Idowu playing for the Super Eagles.

The duo of Abraham and Ejaria have represented England at youth level but Nigeria is keen on luring them to play for the senior national team, owing to their fine form for their respective sides, with Ejaria now firmly established as a first team player at Liverpool while Abraham has taken the Championship by storm where he is on loan to Bristol City from Chelsea.

” We are working on a lot of possibilities in that direction but our focus right now is to qualify for the World Cup 2018 in Russia. Tammy Abraham is not an immediate priority as we have loads of options upfront but he is one we are in contact with for the future” He said.

” Ejaria case is for the Technical Adviser Mr. Gernot Rohr to decide, If he says he wants him, then we will expedite actions regarding his switch of allegiance to the Super Eagles”.

He was however specific on Brian Idowu, who as reported by Owngoalnigeria.com has been called up to the team by Rohr, who wants competition for his full backs and view the 24 year old Amkar Perm defender as a positive addition.

” We are in touch with Brian Idowu already. His case is less complex and has the approval of the Technical Adviser.”

Sir Alex Ferguson Speaks On The Rise Of Arsenal Forward Iwobi

Manchester United great Sir Alex Ferguson admits he’s been ‘impressed’ with Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi this season.

The 20-year-old emerged from the Gunners’ academy last season and became a first-team regular towards the end of the last campaign.

The Nigerian forward is yet to score this term but he’s helped transform the Gunners’ play this season with Arsene Wenger’s side playing a more typical free-flowing brand of football than supporters have seen in the last few years.

And Ferguson admits he’s been impressed with the youngster, who he believes has helped to make Wenger’s side title rivals this term.

You shouldn’t forget Arsenal [in the title race],’ Ferguson told Kicker.

‘The team is more sturdy. They’ve got better and more aggressive. I’m impressed with the young boy Alex Iwobi.’
