Super Eagles and Watford forward Odion Ighalo could be jailed for two years over falsification of driving documents during his stay in Spain with La-Liga side Granada.

Spanish publication, Marca, reports that the provincial district attorney’s office of Granada has requested a two-year prison term and a fine of 3,000 Euros for Ighalo, his ex-Granada teammate, Diego Buonanotte, and 93 others for allegedly bribing their way to pass a driving test.

According to the provisional writing of the prosecution, in 2012 and 2013 someone was hired to write the exams for Ighalo and the other accused. After the test was written, the errors made on the sheet were deleted. Following the incident, the prosecutor found the Super Eagles striker culpable of the crime of falsifying an official document. Meanwhile, as is the practice, Ighalo may be dragged to appear in court to testify in Granada if an open trial is to be held.

Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is putting final touches to his list for Nigeria’s next World Cup 2018 qualifiers tie against Algeria in Uyo.

Rohr has ruled out inviting home based players to the team. However goalkepper Ikechukwu Ezenwa will be retained by the German but he has also made plans to call up Chippa United shotstopper Daniel Akpeyi.

Akpeyi will take the place of Emmanuel Daniel who was ironically the first choice goalkepper at the Rio 2016 Olympics ahead of Akpeyi, but the South African based shotstopper has kept goal for the Super Eagles on seven previous occasion.

His experience and constant game time for Chippa United in the Premier South Africa League makes his selection a no brainier. But Rohr is also planning for the future with David Nwokolor who keeps goal for Bosnian side Vitez, where he is on loan from Croatian side Rijeka firmly in his plans.

Rohr is well aware of the 21 year old Nwokolor, and has penciled him for future invitation to the team, but there’s no chance of him making the team for the game against Algeria.

” There are friendly games planned for next year and Nwokolor is among those under consideration. The Algerian tie is too soon but subsequently he will be called up. He is young and will benefit from training with the senior team” a source close to the coach said.

However Manu Garba is of the opinion that since the award is a personal award, it should be based on individual accolade and not team award, hence he feels his former U-17 protegee Iheanacho should have won it.

“It’s all political, considering what Iheanacho did last season, he should have won the award. It’s like it’s now reserved for players with big price tag. Iheanacho deserves it” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” As a matter of fact, the world know his quality so, it’s not an issue that should bother him. He will win many awards solely on merit. He is still very young”.
