As the Super Eagles of Nigeria get set to host Algeria on the 12th of November, a bit of how the Algerians will play against Nigeria has been revealed after the departure of Manager Milovan Rajevac.

Milovan Rajevac reportedly resigned from his role as coach of the Algerian team after just three games at the helm and three months into the job. The 1-1 draw at home against Cameroon in the World Cup 2018 qualifying series according to sources triggered the revolt.

Serbian coach Rajevac, known for his pragmatic approach was unhappy with the all out attacking style of the Algerian national team during their 6-0 thrashing of Lesotho in an AFCON 2017 qualifiers tie, and tried to change it to a more cautious one in their game against Cameroon.

However, the players during the half time break of the game against Cameroun which ended in a 1-1 draw had an argument with the manager, as they insist on reverting to their old style of quick pressing of their opponent and swift attack.

Rajevac refused and the players after the game ended went to the FA, in the company of Rajevac’s Algerian assistant to voice their displeasure over the manager’s tactics and approach to games.

The FA listened to their complains and summoned the manager who decided to leave by mutual consent. Furthermore they were complains about his man management skills, no thanks to his inability to speak Arabic or French, the two leading languages in the country.

Nigeria Rio 2016 Olympic hero Sadiq Umar has spoken out about his chances of making the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The former Roma prospect who moved to Bologna this summer in a co-ownership deal is still waiting for his maiden call up to the senior Nigeria national team, but he believes things can change before then.

Former Super Eagles forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni is learning the ropes as a coach in England with National League side Boreham Wood.

The Nigerian who was a hit at Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton and Blackburn Rovers during his time in the Premiership, netting 96 goals in 220 Premier League games.

His experience with the senior Nigeria national team has also helped him in his first unofficial role as coach, in helping strikers of Boreham Woods, where he has been training since the summer.

Aiyegbeni’s impact on young strikers of the team was praised by manager Luke Garrard as well as young forward Jamie Lucas who is on loan from Bristol Rovers.

“Yak can teach things I haven’t seen because he’s played at the highest level,” Garrard said. “Yak has been taking the younger players under his wing the last three or four weeks and as long as he comes in and does that I’m happy to have Yak at the club.”

The spokesman of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Toyin Ibitoye says the Nigeria Football Federation has no doubt about the legitimacy of the injury to 20 year old Watford forward Isacc Success.

Success ruled himself out of Nigeria’s trip to Ndola, where they defeated Zambia 2-1 to start their World Cup 2018 qualifiers on a sound note in group B, which also has Algeria and Cameroon.

Reports in some Nigeria media suggest that the 20 year old skipped the tie by feigning injury after he was told he will be responsible for his air ticket fare to Nigeria , where they were camped before the game.

However Ibitoye has rubbished speculations that he faked the injury and even reports of a ban from the national team, by stating that they had no doubts that he was truly injured.

“The news we got was that he [Success] got a dead leg in Watford’s last game, and asked to be excused from our World Cup qualifying game away to Ndola.

“We have no reason to doubt what Watford and the player tells us.” He told Watford Observer

Arsenal star Alex Iwobi has revealed who he thinks will be the next youngster to break in to the first team.

The 20-year-old has backed Chuba Akpom, who is actually seven months older than the 20-year-old Nigeria international, to follow in his footsteps in to the starting XI.

” He has a big future here, many people still don’t know what he is all about. But in a not too distant future they will see his best” He said in a Podcast on Arsenal website.

The pair have come through the youth system together, and as well as being older, Akpom made his competitive debut for the club two years earlier than Iwobi – in 2013.

However, the striker has seen his development stall since then in a series of unsuccessful loans to Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, and Hull City.

Some Nigerians took to twitter to troll Arsenal forward Chuba Akpom on the occasion of his 21st birthday two days ago. Same day his childhood friend Alex Iwobi scored his first international goal for Nigeria.

Iwobi and Akpom grew up together as close friends, after joining the academy of Arsenal around same time at a tender age.

While Iwobi has established himself as a first team regular at Arsenal, the last six months, Akpom back at Arsenal after a loan spell at Hull City is yet to make himself a permanent face in the first team.

Same applies to the duo at International level, as even though they have represented England at youth level. Iwobi has since switched allegiance to Nigeria where he has grown into a regular for the senior national team.

Akpom is yet to give a definite answer to Nigeria about switching his allegiance. Nigerians took to twitter to remind him of his age 21 and the need to switch allegiance before it’s too late.

Rohr Show Faith In Obaje By Handing Him Star Number In Clash Against Zambia

Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr showed his faith in the abilities of the top scorer in the recently concluded Nigeria Professional Football League Godwin Obaje, by handing him a squad number befitting of a star player.

Rohr called up Obaje as a late replacement for Watford star Isacc Success, rewarding him for his 18 goals feat in the Nigeria League for Wikki Tourist.

Obaje distinguished himself during several drills with the Super Eagles during training prior to their game against Zambia, which they won 2-1 to move top of their group, which also has Cameroon and Algeria.

His goals were pivotal in helping Wikki Tourist finish third in the league, hence qualifying for next year CAF Confederation Cup. The second club competition in Africa club football.

Although he failed to get off the bench in Nigeria’s game against Zambia, the German manager of the Super Eagles displayed his trust in the Wikki Tourist man by handing him the jersey number 9.
