Jos High Court Reserves Ruling On LMC Appeal Against Giwa FC

0

Mr. Justice I. I Kunda of the Plateau State High Court, Jos on Monday adjourned to tomorrow (Wednesday) the suit for the reinstatement of Giwa FC into the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)2015/16 season.

The Judge will on the adjourned date rule on the issue of whether he can continue to hear the case, after LMC had appealed against his order of interim injunction.

At the resumed sitting in a case filed by one Mustapha Abubakar seeking to reinstate Giwa FC into the NPFL and also reschedule all the games the club was excluded from playing following its expulsion in May, the only issue argued by Counsels on both sides was whether the Judge can continue to hear the matter in view of the appeal filed by LMC against the earlier interim order of the Judge made on 12th August, 2016.

When the case came up, the LMC’s Counsel, Olumide Olujinmi, informed the court that LMC had filed an appeal against the interim order and applied to the court to adjourn the matter sine die pending the outcome of the hearing of the appeal by the Court of Appeal in accordance with decided cases and legal authorities.

He referred the court to the Affidavit of Pending Appeal filed by LMC to this effect.

But the application was opposed by the Counsel for Abubakar, H.S. Adzard, who though admitted to having been served with the Affidavit of Pending Appeal.

Adzard had argued that there was no pending appeal since the records of proceedings had not been transmitted to the Court of Appeal within 60 days as required by the Rules. He also contended that the Affidavit of Pending Appeal was incompetent and urged the Court to go on with the case.

Barrister H.O. Maduabuchi, whose authority to appear in the matter for Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on the claim of having been appointed by one Yahaya Adama associated with a renegade group led by Mr Chris Giwa is yet to be resolved, adopted the submissions of Adzard, and urged the court to continue the hearing of the case.

In his reply, Olujinmi cited further cases and authorities and submitted that in view of the facts of the case and these authorities the High Court was now barred from hearing the case. He alerted the court to the ploy of the opposing Counsel who, he stated, was only trying to get the judge to decide or rule on issues already properly submitted to the Court of Appeal for adjudication. He urged the court to resist this attempt by the opposing Counsel.

The judge then requested Olujinmi to furnish the court with copies of the legal authorities he had cited which the LMC Counsel undertook to do.

NFF Head Of Media Says Government Policy Stopped Them From Paying Siasia Five Months Salary

0

The Head of Communications in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ademola Olajire says, the new policy of the President Mohammed Buhari regime is part of the reason why coach of the Nigeria U23s Samson Siasia has not been paid for five months.

Siasia while announcing his resignation from his role as the coach of the Nigeria U23 said he is being owed five months salary by the NFF, which Olajire admits the body is owing the bronze medal winning coach.

However Olajire pointed out, that the delay was caused by the policy of the government, which mandates all cash inflow to public institutions to first go through the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

Olajire angered by the coach decision in making public the issue of none payment of his salary for five months, says the coach should also be gracious enough to reveal to the public once he is paid.

“The NFF admits owing Siasia, but I believe you must have read about certain money from Caf was earmarked to pay himself and assistants but it had to first go into TSA, cos of new Govt policy. Siasia should be able to credit NFF for getting his team friendly matched and invitational tournaments, and for getting the team to Atlanta.

“The rest should be NOC and Sports Ministry. If Siasia does not appreciate anything at all, he should be able to appreciate that NFF gave him a job in the first place. He will get his five months salary (let me add that NFF Management are also being owed the same five months) but by then he will not be gracious enough to tell anybody that he has been paid.

“NFF has never meant evil for him. Of the 22 months he did in the job, he has been paid 17 months. He will get the balance soon, but will tell no one. The part people will hear and retain in their memory is that NFF is owing him”.

NFF Media Chief Explains Why Official Car Was Collected From Samson Siasia

0

The head of communications at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ademola Olajire has opened up on the reason, why the football body collected the official car given to former Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia.

Olajire in a group chat, that has one of owngoalnigeria correspondent, said Siasia’s contract as coach of the Nigeria Men’s Olympic Football team has no provisions for official car.

He further said the car was retrieved from the wife of the coach while the team was in Atlanta prior to the Olympics, and not during the games as suggested by the coach.

The first question we must ask Siasia is, does his contract as Nigeria U23 Head Coach provide for official car? I apologize, but many of us appear ready to just jump on the bandwagon of ‘NFF flogging’ once something appears anywhere, no matter how ridiculous.

” Even the NFF President does not have an official car. The car in question is meant for Super Eagles Head Coach. It was bought brand new for Sunday Oliseh. When he left, it was handed over to Siasia when he served as interim Head Coach in March 2016. It was to have been withdrawn immediately after that assignment, but there was no immediate Eagles assignment so it was left for him to use while he prepared the team for the Olympics.

“Now, NFF appears to have erred in that now. The car was withdrawn when NFF auditors sighted Mrs Siasia driving it and pointed out the anomaly. There are regulations that go with government vehicles. Even Siasia can no drive it. It has to be driven by a driver in employ of government.

“The withdrawal happened while the team was in Atlanta. Well before the Olympics. But he’s trying to make it look like it was during the Olympics to whip up whatever sentiments. Unfortunately, it is not every little issue that the NFF will publicly react to. Siasia’s contract never entitled him to official car”

Thanks.
