EXCLUSIVE: Ekpai Concludes Loan Switch To Slovan Liberec From Maccabi Haifa

Former Akwa United forward Ubong Ekpai will in the next few days complete a loan move to Czech Republic Europa League campaigners Slovan Liberec, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

The presence of foreign players at Maccabi Haifa made the Israeli side to make him available for a season long loan deal but not just to any team but to a team playing continental football in Europe.

He arrived Slovan Liberec two weeks ago and scored in a friendly game few hours upon his arrival but talks stalled due to the high wage he commands at the Israeli side which the Czech were unable to match.

Panionios have beaten fellow Greek side Levadiakos to the signing of Olympiakos forward Michael Olaitan on a free transfer.

Olaitan who still has one year to run on his deal was allowed to leave on a free transfer by the Greek side and Panionios won the race for his signature despite the fact that Levadiakos were initially the front runners for his signature.

23 year old Olaitan spent is looking to bounce back to the form that once made him the toast of Greek Football in 2014 before an on field slump in the derby game against Panathinaikos.

Head coach of the Nigeria U-17 team Manu Garba says English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur will regret allowing Nigeria youth International Musa Yahaya leave White Hart Lane.

Shortly after winning the U-17 World cup with Nigeria in 2013, Yahaya was signed on a pre contract by the London based side and spent time training at the club with their youth team.

However days after his contract was turned into a professional one, on his 18 year birthday he was loaned to Portuguese second division side Portimonense and after a fairly successful time on loan he was sold to the club.

According to various news sources in France, French coach Paul Le Guen is yet to accept the job of the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria despite the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announcing him as the new coach of the Super Eagles.

Although even the Technical Committee of the football house in Nigeria only said he has been recommended for the job not appointed as widely been reported by both local and foreign media.

Owngoalnigeria.com spoke to a french journalist who has close ties with the 52 year old and he revealed five key issues that need to be ironed out before Le Guen takes charge of the Super Eagles.

1. Picking of Assistants

The french man as reported by Owngoalnigeria.com wants to bring long time assistant Yves Colleu with him to Nigeria alongside a physical trainer but while the NFF have given their blessings to his request to have Colleu who has been his assistant since 1998 they are yet to say yes to his demand for his own physical trainer.

2. Salary Currency Type

The current fiscal policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria has brought about an impasse regarding the type of currency the coach will be paid in as the Frenchman wants to be paid in Dollars which the NFF currently have issues with and will prefer paying him in Naira.

3. Duration of Contract

Le Guen although won’t mind working on a short term deal he is however wary of African nations based on his past experience with Cameroun and wants a contract of four years not two as presently been proposed by the NFF.

4. Salary Guarantee

No thanks to past issues involving the NFF and previous coaches regarding salaries, The coach wants assurances that his case won’t be same as coaches who left their post as coach of the Super Eagles but with pending salaries which are mostly not paid.

5. Accomodation and Logistic

The former Cameroun boss wants his accomodation secure before his arrival and as at now that is not the case and he could possibly delay his arrival until that is sorted out and since he prefers to operate in Lagos, he also need assurances regarding logistics when he wants to travel within or outside Nigeria.
