Exclusive – Crystal Palace Sensation Declares For Super Eagles, Eyes World Cup

0

The international future of Crystal Palace forward Ademola Ola-Adebomi has been laid to rest by a representative of the player, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Ola-Adebomi was a part of the Nigeria U20 team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, but a mix up over the number of days he is permitted to stay in the camp of the team saw him miss out on a spot in the team for the tournament.

He wasn’t in the mix for the U20 World Cup in Argentina, but he has since put that disappointment behind and has his mind set on breaking into the first team of Crystal Palace following his elevation to the first team on a permanent basis.

A profile striker for the club at U18 where he scored 18 goals in 33 games, for the U21 he got 10 goals in 27 games leading to his elevation to the first team this season.

Coach Roy Hodgson has named him on the bench for the last three consecutive games of the team, meaning a first team debut is very close and he considers that as the first step towards his dream of representing Nigeria at the 2026 World Cup.

” Nothing has changed. He ( Ademola) still wants to play for Nigeria but for now he has to cement his spot in the first team of Crystal Palace. The signs are good but a spot in the AFCON team is too sudden, so let’s say the World Cup 2026 if Super Eagles makes it to the tournament”, a member of his representatives told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

22 year old Orban took Europe by storm last season scoring 20 goals in 22 games following his January transfer move from second division Norwegian side Stabæk to Gent. He was rewarded with a first time call up to the senior national team of Nigeria.

Speaking on the non invitation of the forward for the upcoming friendly games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique respectively, the NFF technical committee member said Orban might not play for the Super Eagles anytime soon.

” We received a correspondence from the Togolese FA with documents showing that he is from Togo and even though we know he has Nigerian roots through his father, there are some other stuff around his invitation that requires clarification”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com in an exclusive chat.

” I am not sure he will get to play for the Super Eagles anytime soon. That issue is way bigger and could have a huge consequence on his career if we don’t treat it with caution. For now we have not make any further attempt other than leave him out”, he concluded.

Coach Of Gent Criticise Decision Of Peseiro To Call Torunarigha To Super Eagles Squad – They Don’t Pay

0

The head coach of Belgium top division side Gent has voiced out his unhappiness over the invitation of Jordan Torunarigha to the Super Eagles team for the upcoming friendly games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique respectively.

The former Germany youth international defender missed the club’s game in the Europa Conference League against Maccabi Tel-Aviv with a knock, although he is back in the team for Sunday’s league game against Genk.

Fresh from his first call up Torunarigha was included in the squad for the Super Eagles games on the 13th and 16th of October respectively in Portugal. He will be hoping to make his debut after sitting out the entire duration of the 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo.

However his coach at Gent, Hein Vanhaezebrouck is unhappy that he was included despite the fact that he is just returning from a knock, and fears he could aggravate it while on duty with Nigeria.

“You can forget that. They don’t take that into account because they also have to achieve their goals. If our players are among the better ones in their team selection, they will play. During friendly matches or youth tournaments, you can sometimes agree, as with Wesley Sonck, not to let someone play three matches”, he said.

“It’s more difficult when it comes to qualifying matches. It becomes especially annoying if someone has been hurt for a while but is still called up and then has to play again,” says Vanhaezebrouck. “That player (Torunarigha) is not paid by the federation and if we lose him and have him rehabilitated, it would be a shame if they call him anyway. Fairplay does not participate at FIFA or UEFA level. They advertise that, but it is actually not in their values and standards.”

Czech Republic Side SFC Opava Confirms Signing Of Nigeria U20 Goalkeeper

0

Second division Czech Republic side SFC Opava have concluded the signing of Nigeria U20 shot stopper Saheed Akanbi Jimoh on a short term deal after impressing during trials, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The 18 year old had trials at the club in September and a decision was made on his signing and following the successful completion of his registration process, he is now officially a player of the club.

Jimoh was a part of the Nigeria U17 team two years ago and made the step up to the U20 last year and was a part of the team that won the WAFU B championship, and also finished third at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

He left the camp of the team shortly before the U20 World Cup in Argentina, and has now taken his trade abroad with a deal till January before the club will evaluate his further stay. He will be with the B team where his performance will be evaluated for his promotion to the first team.

“Never, when I went to Africa, did I focus much on the goalkeeper. Three years ago, however, one caught my eye and since then I have been toying with the idea of involving them in Central European football. In the case of Jimoh, whom I have scouted, we are working with his talent, spontaneity and potential for possible improvement. At the same time, we are building experience, because he has fantastic parameters, as an eighteen-year-old he is in the U20 national team. I believe that if he can be properly guided and taught, then he can be an interesting addition to the first or second league,” coach Miloslav Brožek said on the club official website.

“Jimoh is a talented goalkeeper with huge potential for the future. In addition to being a 196cm tall goalkeeper, he can be quick on the ground, covers a large area of the goal and he is fearless, so his parameters and fearlessness allow him to be highly successful in one-on-one goalkeeping skills. In game situations, the footwork is calm and precise. He is a promise of the future and a huge amount of work awaits him,” goalkeeper’s coach Lukáš Godula further explained about the young goalkeeper.
