Nigeria has been given the chance to add another promising player born abroad to the current team of the senior national team under the guidance of Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro.

Peseiro’s predecessor Gernot Rohr was very active and also successful in convincing players of Nigerian descent and that appears to have set the trend for the new man to build on going forward.

It is on that note that England U21 forward Folarin Balogun who is on loan to French Ligue 1 side Reims from Arsenal is open to the idea of playing for Nigeria, but said he hasn’t been approached yet.

“I haven’t heard anything from Nigeria, but I’m open to anything because Nigeria is very close to my heart,” he told BBC Sport Africa according to a report by Oluwashina Okeleji.

“My family’s from there. I always have love for Nigeria. That’s a conversation that I need to have with people around me, my agent and obviously my family,” added Balogun.

“But if I was asked about the opportunity to play for Nigeria, then I can have that conversation. But first I need to be asked”, he rounded up saying.

This season he has scored seven goals in 12 games to lie in joint fifth in Ligue 1’s top scorers’ list, behind the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar of Paris St-Germain. Aside from Nigeria and England, Balogun is also eligible to represent the United States of America as he was born there.

Hold Sunday Dare Responsible For Your Unpaid Salaries – NFF Tells Super Eagles Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation is not to be blamed for the unpaid salaries of Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro according to a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Peseiro hasn’t been paid his monthly salary of around $70,000 a month for a period of over three months, which means by FIFA laws he can decide to terminate his contract and walk away from the job just five months after he took over as coach.

Reacting to the story about the situation of the coach, a board member of the NFF said it’s unfair to blame the football body for the inability to settle the wages of the coach, when they are not responsible for it.

” You have to look back to when he was appointed as coach. The minister for youths and sports categorically told the NFF that the federal government of Nigeria will be responsible for his salary. Since we deposited his contract at their office, they haven’t gotten back to us and you know we have a new board that is just settling down to work”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

His statement made us to dig deep and we found a press release from the office of the minister, where he stated that he has gotten approval from the president of Nigeria for the salary of the foreign coach of the Super Eagles to be handled by the federal government of Nigeria.

“The Ministry’s position is hard and fast that Nigeria deserves the best gaffer at this stage to help with rebuilding the national team and not just anyone will do

“The Ministry to avoid the challenge of funds to pay the adviser has since approached Mr. President and secured approval for the Federal Government to now pay the salaries of the coach.

“All NFF needs to do is pick a solid coach and forward the contract and salary document to the Federal Government through the Ministry,” the statement on the 14th of May reads in part.

The recently appointed coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro can walk out of his job as coach of the senior national team of Nigeria on the basis of unpaid wages.

Peseiro was appointed this year after the failure of the senior national team of Nigeria to make it to the World Cup and so far he has picked up two wins in his first two competitive games in charge of the team. He has however lost three out of the four friendly games he has handled the team.

With the postponement of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations following the postponement of the tournament, the coach is expected to be on the sideline when they take on his country Portugal in an international friendly game in November.

He can however walk out on his role if he so desires as per FIFA laws he can terminate his deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as he has gone the stipulated length of three months without pay. For now it’s not an option he is considering according to one of his representatives.

” We know by the law he can walk away and still get paid but it’s not an option for now but for how long I don’t know. There is even some confusion on who is responsible for his salary. We were told at the start that the Nigerian government will be responsible for it but recently we are hearing something different”, he told OwngoalNigeria.com.

” There is a new NFF president who is yet to properly settle down. So there is time to have that talk on the way forward. It’s been over three months since he got paid. Peseiro had a very

It’s a huge goal in his career and one which he will look back at with joy in the future especially if they beat the drop at the end of the season. He should have celebrated out of respect for the fans of Forest who were very loud all through.
