Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has made contact with Bologna of Italy midfielder Kingsley Michael to be a part of the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup qualifiers.

Rohr is looking for cover for the Super Eagles second World Cup qualifiers game against Cape Verde is Praia as about nine players from the United Kingdom won’t be available for the game.

Michael has been on the radar of the coach for a while and with options limited by the restrictions in several countries due to the coronavirus pandemic, he has been contacted to be a part of the squad.

As reported by this portal earlier today, Rohr was undecided over calling the former Nigeria U17 , U20 and U23 midfielder of Alhassan Yusuf of Belgium side Antwerp.

Malmo of Sweden defensive midfielder Innocent Bonke has been called up to the senior national team of Nigeria for the first time , OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr has also added Goztepe midfielder Obinna Nwobodo to the list of invited players, following the decision by English Premier League teams not to travel to regions termed as red zone in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The duo were contacted last night with Bonke taking the spot of Wilfred Ndidi in defensive midfield while Nwobodo Will replace Joe Aribo. A replacement for Oghenekaro Etebo is yet to be decided on.

For now it’s between the duo of Bologna’s Kingsley Michael and Alhassan Yusuf of Belgium side Antwerp, although some sources close to the coach revealed both players could be called up.

Meanwhile as first reported by this portal Henry Onyekuru has been handed a recall and he will take the spot of Everton man Alex Iwobi.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has sent a letter of invitation to out of favor winger Henry Onyekuru and four others to be a part of the Super Eagles squad for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Coach Gernot Rohr submitted his list of players to the NFF and it was to be released yesterday but the coronavirus protocols in the United Kingdom means as many as seven players won’t be able to make the away trip to Cape Verde.

Cape Verde is on the UK red list and visitors arriving from the country will need to quarantine for ten days before getting permission to go on with their normal lives.

It means regular players like Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo, Frank Onyeka, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Oghenekaro Etebo and Alex Iwobi won’t be able to honour the away tie.

However they are free to play in the home game on the 3rd of September against Liberia, but it has forced the NFF into making contacts with players from countries where travellers from Cape Verde won’t require quarantine upon return.

It means extra players will now be called up to make up for their expected departure after the first game as Nigeria aim to start the qualifiers on a high targeting two wins from their first two games.

The head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has not been paid his wages by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for seven months, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Rohr who accepted to take a pay cut by dropping his wages by $6,000, now earns around $49,000 a month but since the start of the year he hasn’t been paid.

The coach also agreed to collect his salary in Nigerian currency, but he has so far been unable to convert it into dollars for his use in Germany. The bank refuse to convert it for him using the exchange rate of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

His last resort is to use the “Black Market” in exchanging to dollars but that will see him lose 40% of his salary considering the fact that the deal was signed using the exchange rate of the CBN.

We gathered he has written several letters to the bank and also contacted the NFF but it has so far not yielded any positive response. The players of the Super Eagles are also heading into the start of the qualifiers for the World Cup with two years of unpaid bonuses.

Victor Osimhen has received a two match ban for his reaction to the red card he received in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Venezia in their first Serie A game of the season over the weekend.

The Nigerian was shown a straight red card in the 23rd minute for an alleged punch on Venezia defender Daan Heymans during a tussle for space in the box with Napoli about to take a corner kick.

In the referees’s report after the game it was described as an incident of “voluntarily striking an opposition player with a slap to the face while the ball was at a distance”. He was also fined €5,000.

Deputy Vice President of Europe Football governing body UEFA has added his voice to the discussion on the sending off of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen In Napoli’s 2-0 win over Venezia in the Serie A.

The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has increased the number of players in his squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde respectively.

Rohr initially listed 25 players for both games but sent out invitation to 35 players with ten on standby , he has now increased the number of players in the squad to 30.

We gathered the idea is borne out of necessity as there are doubts surrounding the availability of five players in the list of players who are based in England with the UK protocol on coronavirus casting a cloud over their presence.

Five players in Oghenekaro Etebo, William Ekong , Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka will be forced to quarantine for ten days if they honour the away trip to Cape Verde as it is listed in the UK red zone.

Same fate might also affect the duo of Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo who are based in Scotland but for now their is no muck concern over them like the ones in England.
