Osimhen fell awkwardly during the Super Eagles 4-4 draw against Sierra Leone in Benin on the 13th of November and since then he hasn’t kicked a ball in anger for both club and country.

They ended the year with a draw against Torino which came after losing 0-2 to Lazio three days earlier. The return of their most expensive player who has scored twice in six Serie A games this season will no doubt improve the confidence in the squad.

Okocha Warns – Calling Players The “Next Jay Jay Okocha” Puts Them Under Pressure

Former captain of the senior national team of Nigeria Austin Okocha says comparing Nigerian players to him hasn’t helped the development of several young players.

The tag “ Next Okocha” has been placed on several players like Mikel Obi, Rabiu Ibrahim, Kelechi Nwakali and a host of others but bar Mikel none has really gone on to be a key player for the Super Eagles.

Okocha made this remark in an interview with Brila FM where he said players should be allowed to be themselves and carve a name of their own instead of putting them under pressure by comparing them with him.

The former PSG and Bolton Wanderers star who retired from the Nigerian team in 2008 however admitted that the lack of playmaker in the Super Eagles team at the moment is hindering the team from playing to its full potential.

“We should support these players and let them flourish on their own instead of unfairly putting them under pressure by calling them the next this or that,” said Okocha.

“I think people need to stop the obsession with that new Jay-Jay label because it’s unfair on these young players.”

Revealed- Bordeaux American Owners Behind The Poor Form Of Samuel Kalu

The dip in form of Nigeria and Bordeaux of France winger Samuel Kalu has been traced to the way he was treated by the management of the team when his mother was abducted by kidnappers in Nigeria .

Kalu’s mother was later released after the payment of a ransom but the trauma of having his mother in the kidnappers den and lack of support from the American owners of Bordeaux left him broken.

According to top French scout Laurent Calippe, the Nigerian hasn’t been the same since that incident saying he should have been loaned out to regain his confidence and not transfer listed like the club did.

A loan move according to Calippe would have helped Kalu to get over the incident of his mother in the kidnappers then and he would have returned a better player for the team.

“He’s a player who had great potential. I know he’s lost a bit since his mother’s kidnapping in Africa. It didn’t do him good at all. I think that there was a break at that point.

“He may not have had enough backing from the Americans who didn’t want him at that time. So they put him on the transfer list and he was tossed right to left. But he is a player who, for me, has potential and has not yet been exploited to his value”,he told WebGirondins during an interview.

“ Frankly, I think this whole thing with his mother’s kidnapping hit him really, really hard in the back of the head. He had a hard time coming back. I think the solution in those cases would have been to loan him to someone. ‘he takes a breath of fresh air somewhere else and maybe becomes better to come back. “
