An explanation on why the Super Eagles played with three at the back during their last meaningful training session ‎has been given to Owngoalnigeria.com Michael James who witnessed the session.

Coach Gernot Rohr played John Ogu, Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem as three centre backs during the early stage of their training two days ago, and the trio were up against Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and Odion Ighalo.

The formation which was later adjusted with Ogu returning back to his role as a defensive midfielder was experimented by Rohr as part of their tactics for today’s friendly game against England.

England are expected to line up with three at the back, hence the decision by Rohr to have one of the two teams during the session play in same formation against the team expected to start later in the evening.

Rohr tested the formation in training to let the strikers have a feel of what they will face against England and also to give the technical crew an idea on how to break things lined up in same format when the World Cup begins.
