New coach of Chelsea Enzo Maresca was few minutes away from testing his first defeat at the club before Lesley Ugochukwu scored to help his team draw 2-2 against Wrexham, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Maresca lined up two different team for each half of the game and was pleased to see his team go into the break leading 1-0 thanks to a goal from Christopher Nkunku but a little over ten minutes after the break , Wrexham turned over the scoreline.
Luke Bolton drew the football league side level in the 58 minute before Jack Marriot handed them the lead in the 71st minute. Chelsea found it hard to fight their way into the game with Arthur Okonkwo standing firm in goal for Wrexham.
Okonkwo who moved to the team on a permanent deal following the expiration of his contract at Arsenal pulled saves after saves to deny the Blues. He is said to be on the radar of national team selectors of the senior national team of Nigeria and he did his chances a lot of good with his saves.
He was subbed off in the 62nd minute and with eight minutes left to play Chelsea drew level through Ugochukwu. A Nigerian who was recently dropped from the French U23 team for the Olympic games, he is however still eligible for senior international football with Nigeria.
It is the same for Carney Chukwuemeka who was also on for Chelsea and gave himself a huge chance of breaking into the setup of the new coach.
