Nigeria international defender Chidozie Awaziem has completed a move FC Cincinnati to fellow MLS side Colorado Rapids, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Awaziem joins the club alongside his teammate Ian Murphy. Both players are center backs and are part of the plans to add depth to the backline of Colorado following the club record transfer of Moise Bombito to Ligue 1 side OGC Nice for $7.7m.
The deal is for the duo will be for around $1 million GAM plus add-ons. Colorado have a long standing interest in Awaziem who has 34 caps for the senior national team of Nigeria.
After 14 games for FC Cincinnati, the team he joined in the summer in a shock move from Portuguese side Boavista, the 27 year told was allowed to leave the club following the return of Matt Miazga from a season long injury.
Miazga who was voted the MLS defender of the year was out for the entirety of 2024 forcing the club into the signing of Awaziem from Boavista. He boast of stints with FC Porto, Leganes, Nantes, Hadjuk Split, Rizespor and Alanyaspor.
