World Cup Qualifiers – Rohr Unhappy With Delay By FIFA In Deducting Three Points From South Africa

0

Former coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has called on FIFA to quickly deduct three points and three goals from South Africa in the world cup qualifiers for fielding an ineligible player in their 2-0 win over Lesotho in March, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

South Africa fielded Teboho Mokoena in the 2-0 win over Lesotho, a game he was supposed to be suspended for after picking up two yellow cards in previous games of the qualifiers.

His ineligibility to play in the game was flagged by the Nigerian media and FIFA were duly notified despite the fact that no protest was lodged. A three points deduction is now likely to be hammered on them before the resumption of games in September.

Like we exclusively reported during the week, FIFA have already communicated to South Africa Football Association (SAFA) on the infringement and the possibility of a three points deduction, but it’s yet to be implemented.

Rohr who is now in charge of Benin Republic, who are the same group with South Africa, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Lesotho has called on FIFA to take the decision, because it’s clear and obvious that South Africa should lose three points.

The coach who was at the helm when Nigeria were docked three points in 2018 for a similar offence against Algeria in a dead rubber game, urged FIFA to make it clear before the resumption of games in the Qualifiers in September.

“I am calling on FIFA to make themselves clear on the points situation in our 2026 FIFAWorldCup qualifying group, as South Africa used an ineligible player in a World Cup qualifier, which means they must lose three points and three goals to the opponent of the said match, Lesotho”, he told veteran Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana from his base in France.

“With the remaining qualifiers set to begin soon, it is imperative, in the interest of fair play, for all the teams in our World Cup qualifying group to know where they legitimately stand, before we start to play.

“I am surprised that FIFA is taking too long to resolve what is a very straightforward matter. It should and must be resolved without further delay.”

Super Eagles Star Shuns Fulham, Says Yes To Joining Valencia On Loan

0

Nigeria international and Real Sociedad striker Sadiq Umar has accepted a loan proposal from LaLiga side Valencia, which will see him return to where he had a successful time in the second half of last season.

Sadiq has been a subject of interest from teams around Europe after he was made available by Real Sociedad upon his return from a fairly successful loan spell at Valencia, where he helped fire the team from 19th when he joined to beating the drop.

Newly promoted Elche made an ambitious attempt to sign him on a permanent deal, but he turned down their proposal and also several other teams in Europe insisting on staying at Real Sociedad or playing for another top team in Spain.

While the president of Sociedad Jokin Aperribay publicly said the 28 year old will likely stay at the club, after impressing the coaches during pre season training. Sadiq has said yes to a loan move to Valencia.

His decision came in light of reports linking him with a move to English Premier League side Fulham, who are willing to splash €10m to sign him permanently on a four year deal.

He felt very comfortable during his six months in the city of Turia and he is eager for a second adventure with Carlos Corberán’s team. The offer would consist of a fixed payment for the loan , plus his full salary and a series of bonuses for goals achieved, without ruling out a purchase option.

Why Cryptocurrency Revolutionised Sports Betting Popularity in 2025

Why sports betting with cryptocurrency became so popular in 2025

Cryptocurrencies have rapidly entered the modern world and continue to gain popularity with each passing year. In Nigeria, more and more sectors are integrating cryptocurrency into their payment methods, making it a widespread and convenient tool for daily transactions. Sports betting, a growing industry in the country, has also embraced this trend.

For many Nigerians, the shift to crypto felt like a no-brainer — na the new level be that. Today, countless platforms support crypto payments and continuously expand the range of accepted coins and tokens. But what exactly made sports betting with cryptocurrency so popular in 2025?

Why BC Game is the best crypto platform

Before exploring why crypto sports betting has become so mainstream, it’s crucial to understand where it’s best to place such bets. Among all the available options, BC Game Casinostands out as the leading crypto-oriented online platform. The platform has earned a reputation for offering seamless and efficient service tailored for digital currency users. BC Game APP currently accepts over 50 different cryptocurrencies, including major ones like Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, and lesser-known altcoins, providing users with an unmatched level of flexibility.

One of the unique features of BC Game Nigeria is its native token, BC Dollar (BCD), which plays a central role in the platform’s ecosystem. The current exchange rate of the token is always visible in the top left corner of the website, ensuring transparency and convenience for users. For those who wish to take a break from traditional sports betting, BC Game also offers an engaging feature called “Crypto Trading,” where players can simulate real trading scenarios and feel like professional traders.

Now that it’s clear where to place crypto sport bets securely and efficiently, it’s time to explore why this method of sports betting became so popular in 2025.

Fast and borderless transactions

One of the most significant reasons behind the popularity of cryptocurrency sports betting in 2025 is the speed and borderless nature of transactions. Traditional payment methods often come with processing delays, especially for international transfers. In contrast, cryptocurrencies allow users to deposit and withdraw funds almost instantly, regardless of geographical location — no wahala at all.

For Nigerian bettors, this advantage is particularly relevant. International bookmakers that support cryptocurrencies provide seamless access without the need for local banking intermediaries. No waiting for bank approvals, no hidden cross-border fees—just instant deposits and withdrawals. This benefit is amplified for high-frequency or live bettors who need quick access to their funds.

Moreover, the blockchain infrastructure ensures that all transactions are recorded immutably, reducing the risk of disputes or failed payments. Smart contracts, when used by platforms, also automate payouts, ensuring immediate settlement once conditions are met.

In 2025, more platforms began adopting Layer 2 solutions like the Lightning Network and Optimism, further reducing transaction fees and increasing speed. The combination of reduced costs and near-instant execution has made crypto betting highly appealing to a new generation of bettors looking for frictionless financial interaction.

Enhanced privacy and anonymity

In 2025, digital privacy remains a growing concern for many users worldwide, especially in regions with unclear or restrictive gambling regulations. Betting with cryptocurrencies offers a higher level of anonymity compared to fiat-based methods.

Most crypto transactions do not require users to provide sensitive personal information. While reputable platforms like BC Game still enforce basic KYC (Know Your Customer) standards for large withdrawals or regulatory compliance, general betting activity can often be conducted with minimal disclosure. This is in sharp contrast to traditional platforms, where linking bank accounts and providing detailed identification is mandatory.

In Nigeria, where users are becoming more tech-savvy and aware of data protection, this privacy advantage has become a strong incentive to switch to crypto platforms. Bettors can manage their funds using noncustodial wallets, retain control over private keys, and even use decentralized exchanges (DEXs) to convert winnings without revealing their identity.

Additionally, platforms that utilize blockchain technology can offer transparent betting logs, allowing users to verify results without relying solely on centralized servers.

Inflation hedge and value preservation

Another major factor in the rise of cryptocurrency betting in 2025 is the role of crypto assets as a hedge against inflation. Nigeria has experienced periodic inflationary pressures in recent years, eroding the purchasing power of the local currency. For bettors, keeping funds in naira presents risks, especially when saving for large bets or accumulating winnings.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, despite their volatility, are seen as stores of value with long-term growth potential. Bettors increasingly view them not just as payment methods, but also as investment vehicles. This dual function allows users to hold their winnings in a currency that may appreciate over time instead of depreciating in local currency.

Stablecoins, such as USDT or USDC, have also played a crucial role. These tokens offer the benefits of crypto (speed, security, decentralization) without the wild price swings of major coins. Nigerian bettors now often convert their naira into stablecoins for betting, combining predictability with the convenience of digital assets. The integration of DeFi (Decentralized Finance) tools into betting platforms enables users to stake or lend their unused crypto, generating passive income while they bet.

Global acceptance and expanding options

In 2025, one of the clearest signs of the rise of crypto in sports betting is the growing number of platforms and sportsbooks accepting digital assets. In previous years, only a few niche sites experimented with crypto. Today, it’s mainstream. Platforms like BC Game, Stake, and Cloudbet now offer complete services tailored for crypto users.

This wide acceptance has boosted user confidence. Seeing big brands and sponsors back crypto betting gives it legitimacy. Top sports clubs have partnered with crypto bookmakers, and many events now feature crypto-themed promotions. For instance, betting platforms reward users in Bitcoin for tournament participation or host special events with NFT-based rewards.

Betting odds, bonus structures, and promotional offers are also tailored for crypto users, with reduced wagering requirements and faster rollovers. As the ecosystem matures, the infrastructure surrounding crypto betting continues to improve, making the user journey more accessible and enjoyable.

Stronger security and fewer intermediaries

Security is a major concern in any form of online betting. One reason cryptocurrencies have flourished in this space is their ability to reduce reliance on third-party intermediaries. Blockchain networks provide inherently secure environments, thanks to cryptographic protection and decentralized validation.

By using crypto wallets, bettors can safeguard their funds without having to rely on centralized payment processors or even the platforms themselves. Non-custodial wallets give users full control of their keys, eliminating the risk of hacks or freezes on bookmaker accounts.

Super Eagles Star Fires Back At Comments Made By Boniface – You Are The “Most Unserious” Player

0

Claims by Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface that some players of the senior national team of Nigeria are not committed when they play for the team hasn’t gone down well with a lot of the players.

Boniface in an interview last week lamented the attitude of some of his teammates, while on international duty saying they don’t care if the team wins or loses.

“If some of my teammates are going to the national team, they feel like, we go, we play, whether we win or lose, it doesn’t matter,” Boniface said on The Culture League podcast.

“I am always trying to say to them, we are millions in Nigeria. I think in Africa, we have the highest population.”

Reacting to his comments, a senior player in the team said it’s the most unfortunate thing that anyone should say of his teammates, especially in a time like this when the team is in a difficult position in the world cup qualifiers, and trying to push on with a new coach.

” The comments only got to most of us a few days ago. Nobody should talk about his teammates that way, but since he didn’t mention names I won’t respond with my name as well but I will say some things about his person”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

” In the AFCON qualifiers game against Rwanda in Uyo at half time, a senior player in the team almost slapped Boniface for his lack of efforts. You can ask other players what happened before the second half.

• In Russia he was yanked off at half time and posted that he has quit the team, only for him to delete it afterwards. If there is anyone who is not serious and doesn’t seem to care it’s Boniface, who is the first to go downstairs or to social media after a defeat most times.

” When Austine Eguavoen was interim coach. I know the amount of times he lamented Boniface’s lack of commitment when playing for the Super Eagles. He was probably speaking about himself not any other player in the team”, he concluded.

Sevilla Sanction Exit Of Kelechi Iheanacho To A New Team Despite Impressive Form In Pre Season

0

The technical hierarchy of Sevilla have reached an agreement on the future of Nigeria international striker Kelechi Iheanacho at the club, and a decision has been taken for him to leave the club before the close of the summer transfer window, OwnGoalNigeria.com understands.

Iheanacho sparked confusion in the camp of the team when he arrived for pre season training in top shape, and went ahead to score in the win over Schalke 04. He made the coach Matías Almeyda to have a change of mind on his future.

Even the technical director of the team Antonio Cordón who replaced Victor Orta that signed the Nigerian backed the idea of having him as second choice behind Jerome Akor owing to his showing in pre season.

With one year left to run on his deal, the club were also considering signing another striker in the event that they get a very good proposal for the Nigerian, who spent the second half of last season on loan to Middlesbrough in the English Championship after failing to settle down at the club.

It appears they have found one with the Mexican media TUDN reporting that Iheanacho is a priority for Pumas de la UNAM. The club sees him as ideal for the attack of their team and want the deal sorted out before the end of this week , with the league in Mexico almost close to starting.

With one more year on his contract, it remains to be seen whether Iheanacho is happy with this option, as his initial intention was to earn a new opportunity at Sevilla. So far, the feeling has been positive, despite criticism from certain sectors of Sevilla fans due to some images that have been circulating about his physical condition, which has greatly improved since he arrived due to the work he did in preseason.

While he addresses this issue, Antonio Cordón is working on bringing in a goal-scoring striker, and the fact that Almeyda occasionally plays with two strikers doesn’t rule out the possibility of another forward if Iheanacho leaves. He could also turn to Alex Costa, who has been signed for the reserve team but has been promised a first-team contract.

Super Eagles Midfielder Make Commitment On His Future After Getting Jersey Number 10

0

Recently capped Nigeria international midfielder Uche Chrisantus has made up his mind to stay at Getafe beyond the ongoing summer transfer window, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Uche who has two caps for Nigeria at senior level joined the Spanish side last season, but was pushing for a transfer away after one season at the club following interest from teams in England, Italy and Germany.

He snubbed offers from teams who were willing to match his buyout clause, insisting on a move to England which left the president of Getafe unhappy and angry with the Nigerian. He went as far as saying that the 22 year old doesn’t know what he wants.

“Uche doesn’t even know what he wants, it all depends on how he feels when he wakes up. Tomorrow [today], if he comes in, we’ll talk to him. It’s clear he wants to go to the Premier League. He has offers from Italy, but for some reason, he wants to go to the Premier League. He’ll tell us,” declared the Spanish club’s president Ángel Torres in remarks revealed by Ceuta TV.

However he appears to have now committed his future to the club after getting assurances that he will play in his preferred role in midfield, and not as a makeshift number 9 like he did last season.

The club have also handed him the jersey number 10 on the list of registered players posted on their website, with the start of the new season two weeks away from now.

Rio Ngumoha – Liverpool Pre Season Sensation Reveals His Eligibility To Play For Super Eagles

0

The star of Liverpool at their pre season tour Rio Ngumoha has opened up on his eligibility to play for the senior national team of Nigeria through his parents who are descents of the African country, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

16 year old Ngumoha has taken the Liverpool pre season games by storm with two goals sandwiched in between performances not expected from a player of his age. He is already seen as a first team player at the club.

“I’m not trying to rush because I’m still only young,” said Ngumoha last week.

“But at the same time, I just want to show the manager what I can do and not get too complacent. I just want to do bigger and better things for me and the club.”

Ngumoha is not actually a Liverpool academy product, having only joined Liverpool from Chelsea’s youth set-up last summer.

At the time Blues legend John Terry wrote “this boy is and will be a top player”.

He’s not looking wrong.

Ngumoha is tipped to be heavily involved next season, and probably earn a step up in the English national team setup from his current role as a player for their U19. He will be 17 by next month.

However he is still eligible to play for Nigeria without a senior national team debut, after speaking glowingly about his Nigerian roots during his days with the Chelsea Academy.

” My father is a Nigerian and I am well grounded on the culture, the food and the music. I also follow the senior national team like everyone associated with the country”, he said while feeding questions on his roots and if he follows the Super Eagles at the AFCON.

World Cup Qualifiers: Chelle Sets Sight On New Goalkeeper For Super Eagles

0

Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle is in talks with a top goalkeeper to pledge his international allegiance to Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Chelle is currently satisfied with the trio of Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye and Amas Obasogie in the goalkeeping department, but sees the shot stopper as one who can improve them in that area.

He is said to have communicated his desire to the goalkeeper in question, but won’t be in a hurry to have him available for the resumption of games in the world cup qualifiers in September.

The coach will use his preferred trio mentioned above for both games in September. There is however a high chance that a new goalkeeper might join the team before the end of the year if things go according to plans.

His name was not made available to us, but the source said he plays in a major league and had an outstanding season last term out.

Avoiding High-Risk Bet Types in Regional Football Leagues

0

How to Avoid Risky Bet Types in African Football

Football betting is popular in many regions, but the structure of African leagues presents some challenges. Many players take risks by placing bets where they are not fully competent. Avoiding such bets can lead to better results.

Some bet types may seem simple at first, but incomplete data affects outcomes. That is why experienced users often seek safer combinations and follow structured sources. On platforms like http://afropari.com/, players can access regional match insights that help narrow down the risk.

Unreliable market types to avoid

Not all bet markets offer the same value. Some involve variables that are harder to measure or verify. These tend to appear attractive due to high odds, but they rarely result in stable returns.

Bettors should be cautious with these bet types:

  • Correct score predictions with no supporting match form
  • First-goal scorer in leagues with weak team sheets
  • Total corners in regional matches lacking verified statistics
  • Multi-match accumulators involving low-visibility leagues
  • Second-half exact goals without lineup clarity

Matches involving poor pitch conditions or last-minute line-up changes often change the course of expected results. Using a well-reviewed platform or mobile tool like Afropari application helps reduce such blind spots during preparation.

Inconsistent data affects accuracy

Access to reliable match data in African football varies across regions. In lower leagues or newer competitions, full team statistics may not be available. That means markets like player bookings, shot totals, or possession-based outcomes become harder to judge.

Even betting trends seen in European leagues may not apply directly. African club football often includes last-minute squad shifts due to injury or travel delays. Using team news updates from verified channels before betting is more useful than trusting high-odds options alone.

Trusted channels sometimes publish average stats per league. These help assess risk on bets like “both teams to score” or “goal in both halves”. Without those references, it is better to avoid such selections.

Focus on low-variance markets

Punters who prefer lower risk often stay with bets linked to broader outcomes. These include win-draw-win, double chance, and over/under 1.5 goals. These markets give more room for error and depend less on specific player action.

Some safer strategies involve match pairings. For example, combining three clear favourites for an over 0.5 goals slip is often more predictable. Risk is further reduced by skipping lower-tier matches or early rounds in new competitions.

Using platforms like https://afropari.com/games allows users to filter options, review pre-match form, and identify matches with cleaner history records. These filters support better decision-making before placing bets.

Betting strategy and cash control

To avoid risk, smart betting also involves correct budget use. Bettors should never chase losses or place large bets after a failed slip. This pattern often leads to poor judgment.

Instead, small bet sizes with fixed stake limits help protect funds. Tools like bet trackers or win/loss logs can show patterns in betting behaviour. They help users adjust strategies before habits become losses.

One helpful tactic includes keeping a log of sports events and local economic trends. This improves selection accuracy. For example, a team facing travel or payment delays might not perform at expected levels.

Timing and cashout discipline

Another area where risk rises is during live bets. Odds change fast, and small shifts in gameplay may mislead viewers. Live bets can be useful, but only if the user watches the match directly.

Casual punters may also lose profit by holding bets too long. In volatile matches, cashing out at the right moment can lock in profit before momentum swings. Most modern platforms now offer real-time cashout options with percentage-based returns.

These tools should be used when matches become unpredictable or when a team shows signs of decline. Late red cards or defensive errors often lead to outcomes that differ from the original plan.

Regional betting trends and habits

Football betting patterns in different African countries show some similarities. High engagement comes from local derbies, weekend leagues, and national tournaments. Risky bets tend to increase during cup events due to emotional attachment to teams.

Bettors who avoid club loyalty and stay objective tend to perform better. Following prediction groups that specialise in African football also helps reduce uncertainty. They post injury news, lineup leaks, and manager changes that affect match pace.

Mobile usage is strong in this market. Platforms optimised for mobile now include features like team form displays, odds tracking, and match alerts. These tools give users better control and help avoid rushed decisions.

Staying selective delivers long-term value

Betting on fewer matches with better data access will always offer more stable outcomes. Focused bettors who treat the process like a business often see stronger returns over time.

In African football, not every match offers a quality betting opportunity. Recognising that fact separates casual punters from consistent earners. Predictable outcomes follow pattern recognition and risk control, not just luck.
