Liverpool Legend Praises Iwobi – “He Has Traits Hard To Find In English Kids”

The rise of Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi at Arsenal in the last six months has won him praise from all quarters, with Liverpool legendary midfielder Dietmar Hamann, the latest to join the list.

Iwobi has made himself a mainstay in the Arsenal line up at the age of just 20, a feat which is more remarkable following the dearth of players in England progressing from the youth ranks of teams to the main team.

Hamann largely respected by fans of Liverpool, where he spent 8 years and played a pivotal role in their comeback UEFA Champions League win over AC Milan in 2005, praised Iwobi in a TV programme monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com.

Out of favour Super Eagles forward Gbolahan Salami has broken the club goal scoring record of Finnish side KuPS in a single season, after scoring his 13th goal in the league om Monday.

Salami’s goal for KuPS against HIFK saw him go past the 12 goal record set by IIja Venalainen in 2013, as well as Peter Sampo tally of 12 achieved in 2001.

The Nigerian is guarantee to finish as the club top scorer this season, which is his first with the club after joining them at the start of the year from Nigeria Premier League side Warri Wolves.

Blame Siasia For AFCON 2017 Qualification Failure Not Me- Oliseh Suggest

Former coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Sunday Oliseh has suggested that his replacement Samson Siasia should be blamed for Nigeria’s failure to qualify for AFCON 2017 and not him.

Former Israeli League Feared Striker Yero Bello Given All Clear To Debut For Top Moldovan Side

Highly respected Nigerian forward Yero Bello is in line to make his debut for Moldovan side FC Milsami Orhei, close to two months after putting pen to paper on a short term deal with the team.

Bello started this season at Finnish side IIves but left after few months and two games with the team, he joined as a free agent from Israeli side Ashdod.

However his debut for his new side has been delayed due to issues bothering on work permit, but his representative confirmed he has received his work permit and will most likely make his debut this week.

The 28 year old is highly respected and feared in Israel, where he played for four years, scoring 19 league goals spells with Bnei Sakhnin and MS Ashdod.

He will most likely debut for table topping Milsami Orhei in their league game against Saxan on Friday, 21st of October by 1:00pm Nigeria time.

NFF Set Date For Ruling On Abandoned Crown FC & FC Ifeanyi Uba Federation Cup Semi- Final Tie

The Nigeria Football Federation has set a decision date for the abandoned Federation Cup Semi Final tie between Crown FC and FC Ifeanyi Uba, which was halted in Kaduna after fans invaded the pitch before the end of the game.

FC Ifeanyi Uba were leading 2-1, when the game was called off, following a pitch invasion by fans at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium one month ago.

Fans attacked centre referee AA Ibraheem after he canceled what looked like a legitimate goal for Crown FC that would have taken the scores to 2-2.

Although FC Ifeanyi Uba are claiming they have secured the victory they need to face Nasarawa United in the final. The NFF will however rule on the game on Monday, the 24th of October 2016.

Crown on their part are claiming fans that invaded the pitch are neutrals and hence want the tie to be replayed, a decision which the NFF will either grant or turn down on Monday.

NFF Orders League Teams To Play Remaining 11 Minutes Of Abandoned League Tie

The Nigeria Football Federation appeal committee has overturned the decision of Organizing and Disciplinary (O&D) Committee of the Nigeria National League (NNL) on the abandoned tie between J. Atete FC and ABS.

The O&D had earlier in a ruling awarded three points and three goals to ABS, but the appeal committee has asked both club to play out the remaining eleven minutes left in the game at the National Stadium Abuja.

Irate fans caused the abandonment of the tie. With eleven minutes left to play in the game fans invaded the pitch and attacked the centre referee which forced him to bring the game to an abrupt end.

Already the group is the last to be decided following the conclusion of other lower league groups, which has seen Remo Stars, Gombe United and Katsina United secure promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Latest Injury Setback Halt Nigeria Plans For Hull City Odubajo

Moses Odubajo who plays for English Premier League outfit Hull City will spend more times on the sidelines, after the club confirmed that the 22 year old, who is reportedly high on the list of players, Nigeria plan to open talks with about a switch of allegiance to the Super Eagles has suffered a set back in his rehabilitation from the injury he picked up before the start of the season.

Odubajo who can operate on both flanks as a defender has represented England at youth levels but a switch to Nigeria is well on the cards after officials of the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed they had positive talks with him over a switch.

However the statements release by Hull City on their official website means, he will have to wait a little longer before making his mind up on a choice between Nigeria and England.

The Tigers can confirmed they were dealt a disappointing injury blow yesterday when Moses Odubajo was ruled out for an estimated six months with a fractured patella.

The full-back, who had been making excellent strides on his comeback following dislocating his patella in the summer, picked the injury up in a non-contact incident whilst in training.

Moses was assessed by surgeons in London yesterday who stated the player would be required to undergo more surgery to stabilise the fracture and this will be undertaken early next week.

Positively, the 23-year-old’s knee ligaments remain intact, including the MPFL reconstruction he had in the summer.

The Club, staff and players wish Moses a full and speedy recovery from this latest setback.

Olarenwaju Kayode Breaks The Heart Of Roma Fans With Equaliser In Six Goal Thriller

Former Nigeria junior international Olarenwaju Kayode scored one of the goals for Austrian side Austria Wien, as they recovered from going behind twice to draw 3-3 with Italian giants AS Roma.

Raphael Holzhauser gave the Austrians a shock lead in the 16th minute. but two goals from Egyptian super star Stephan El Shaarawy ensured Roma went into the half time break leading 2-1.
