Former England international John Fashanu says Manchester City highly rated teen defender Tosin Adarabioyo could dump England for Nigeria, if the West African nation secures qualification for the next World Cup in Russia.

18 year old Adarabioyo is widely regarded as one of the top teen defenders in England following a string of fine performances for Manchester City in their pre season games.

Born to a Nigerian father and an English mother, the centre back is highly regarded by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as an integral part of the future of the team.

Adarabioyo is reportedly keen on representing England ahead of Nigeria where his parents hail from, however Fashanu believes he has no chance of playing for England at the next World Cup but could stand a chance with Nigeria.

The former captain of Wimbledon told Owngoalnigeria.com in a chat that players are usually moved by the prospect of playing at the senior World Cup.

” It’s a no brainer, If Nigeria qualifies for the World Cup, I doubt if Adarabioyo will say no to Nigeria if they approach him, it’s key for every player to play at the World Cup and the pull might be too much for him to resist, especially if England are not in for him” He said.

A top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has asked coach of the Nigeria U23s Samson Siasia, who recently resigned from his role as coach of the team to keep shut, else the football body will expose his shady dealings as coach of the national team.

” We have endured Siasia’s excesses, he knows we have our own side of the story he is telling to the press. He shouldn’t forget that our recent spate of failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations was started by him” He said to Owngoalnigeria.com.

” He is an ingrate, we gave him the chance to relaunch himself with the U-23s but he showed us he is still the same person, we know how some players were selected both for the Super Eagles in the two games he handled and also for the U23s, he should just keep shut.

” We have facts to show he was involved in some dealings that lead to our failures at tournaments, as a matter of fact, go and ask any board member, we received more petitions about Siasia than any other coach, he knows it.

” If he doesn’t keep shut, we will shame him and end his coaching career, a team that should have won gold, he selected players based on favoritism and he wants us to celebrate bronze with him? , we are wiser than that”.

Following Samson Siasia announcement that he is quitting his post as coach of the Nigeria U23s that won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympics, Owngoalnigeria.com gathered the cash donation made to his team by a Japanese surgeon was the genesis of his issues with his employers.

Billionaire Japanese surgeon Katsuya Takasu, gave the Nigerian team a total of $390,000 (N78.8m) for their bronze medal feat at the Rio Olympics, after falling in love with the team after their 5-4 victory over his country despite their late arrival in Brazil.

Siasia resisted their orders to remit the money, much with the support of his captain Mikel who also told the NFF that any attempt to temper with the cash gift will lead to a boycott of the bronze medal game against Honduras.

The NFF at that point got angry and threatened to deal with the coach, which they started by firstly collecting the official car given to him from his wife even shortly before the bronze medal match against Honduras.

They also abandoned the team upon arrival in Nigeria with only the NFF president addressing the boys, and even at that Amaju Pinnick made no mention of the backlog of bonuses the players are owed.

On his part, the coach of the team has also not been paid for several months, and his resignation could be the start of a legal battle between him and the football house over his entitlements.
