0

The planned transfer of Nigeria U20 midfielder Daniel Daga to Italian Serie A giants is looking bleak at the moment following the departure of Paolo Maldini as the sporting director of the team.

Maldini’s departure was announced two days ago and it has put a hold on the club’s transfer activity in the summer. He was the one who saw Daga in action for the U20 team of Nigeria and pushed for his signing.

He contacted a backroom staff of the team to inform him of the interested of AC Milan but said the deal will progress further after the U20 World Cup in Argentina or when Nigeria’s participation at the tournament ends.

Contacts were shared for the start of talks but his departure is coming after the exit of Nigeria from the tournament after a 0-1 loss to South Korea in the quarter final on Sunday. The expectation was for talks to begin this week.

Talks will now be on hold following his exit with Daga back in Nigeria with the Nigeria U20 team and looking at other options which includes teams from the Spanish LaLiga and also French Ligue 1.

Any deal for the 16 year old who shone brightly for Nigeria will be agreed upon now but he won’t be able to join them until he turns 18. Clubs are however still pushing to have him now rather than wait till he turns 18.

One of the players whose future will be in the news in the days to come is that of the new right back of the senior national team of Nigeria Bright Osayi-Samuel, who currently plays for Turkish side Fenerbahce.

” I’m happy to represent England at international level but I am also proud of my Nigerian heritage from my parents”, he told Sky Sports.

When I grew up all my documents stated that I am English, hopefully Nigerian people will understand.”

Peseiro Will Remain As Super Eagles Coach- Agent Of Coach Linked With Super Eagles Job Reveals

0

Jose Peseiro will remain as the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria according to a representative of one of the coaches interested in replacing the Portuguese as coach of the team, OwnGoalNigeria.comreports.

Peseiro’s contract will run out in June and talks over an extension has not been held. Sources at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says the football house isn’t willing to extend his deal but all that appears to have change in recent days.

The NFF is now considering an extension but on reduced wages for the coach who currently earns $70,000. The idea is being considered largely due to the paucity of funds available to the football house under new president Ibrahim Musa Gusau.

A representative of one of the coaches who was sounded out as possible replacement for Peseiro told OwnGoalNigeria.com that all talks have been put on hold with the NFF now focused on extending the deal of the Portuguese coach for another year.

He said the NFF don’t think it’s wise to let go off the coach who is owed around six months salary for another individual, because it will mean paying two coaches in the event that they hire another coach as his replacement. He said talks with his client who was supposed to be in Nigeria at the end of June has been halted.
