Super Eagles Return To The Gym Today After Interruption Of Yesterday’s Session

Players and officials of the senior national team of Nigeria will later today have a proper session at the gym of their hotel following their inability to complete yesterday’s session.

As reported by this portal, the team were asked to leave the gym of the hotel few minutes into yesterday’s session and they had to complete the work out outside at the beach.

Today they will return to the gym at around 10am for a proper session with 24 players expected to take part following the arrival of ten more players to the camp of the team.

Their first full training session will be later in the evening and all 28 invited players will likely take part as the players have a feel with the new balls sent to them by FIFA for the qualifiers.

The players numbering 15 went to the gym to have their first session but no sooner have they started that the management of the hotel led by the general manager ordered them out.

He claimed the gym is meant for visitors and not exclusively for the team. A situation which snow balled into a heated exchange with players and officials of the Nigerian team.

Attempts by the security detail of the Super Eagles to convince the management to allow the players use the gym yielded no result as they ended up canceling what would have been their first session ahead of Friday’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia.

Hoffenheim of Germany defender Kevin Akpoguma won’t be part of the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers games per an announcement by his club.

The club announced that the defender has tested positive for Coronavirus hence won’t be joining up with the Nigerian team as he stay behind to quarantine despite the fact that he is displaying no symptoms at the moment.
