Nigeria and Bursaspor central defender William Troost-Ekong has revealed the team he will love Nigeria to face at next year World Cup in Russia following Nigeria’s qualification for the tournament.
Speaking to Voetbalzone.nl Ekong who has formed a formidable central defence partnership with Leon Balogun now famously referred to as ‘Oyibo Wall” said he wants Nigeria to face Brazil or England.
He was however specific on Brazil and wenta step further to reveal why he would love the Eagles to face the former World Cup host in Russia when the World Cup gets underway next year.
” We now have a very nice team, and right now we have our eyes on the World Cup draws which will take place in December. We will probably meet some stronger teams because of our place in the FIFA ranking”, Ekong told Voetbalzone.nl.
” It would be nice to play Brazil or England, for example Troost-Ekong up against Neymar will make people ask can he do it? At the 2016 Olympic Games we lost in the semi-final and then I was looking forward to playing in the final against Brazil.
” So it would be nice to get the chance at the World Cup, although the idea that you’re going to play at a World Cup is very special to me as a footballer”, he said.
Speaking on the players who make the difference in the Super Eagles, the Bursaspor of Turkey man named captain of the team Mikel Obi and the English Premiership based trio of Victor Moses, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi.
” I think we have players who can make the difference, because we have some excellent players like Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses who are playing in the Premier League and also Kelechi Iheanacho, then Mikel who now plays in China, but he still a top player.
” There are also players who play in smaller teams but we are realy a team. We are all at a reasonable level “.
