EXCLUSIVE: Serie A Side Bologna Beat Spurs To Exciting Nigeria U-20 Duo

The Nigeria U-20 duo of Orji Okonkwo and Kingsley Michael have verbally agreed a move to Serie A side Bologna according to reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com.

The duo were offered to Tottenham Hotspur by their agent Danny Shittu, a former Nigeria International who has in the past offered the childhood friends to Chelsea and Watford.

However despite a contract offer from Serie B side Spezia , the exciting duo are heading to Serie A side Bologna, with Orji due to fly out at the start of next month to conclude talks and possibly sign a deal while Kingsley will join him when he clocks 18.

The deal could however suffer some set backs with Football Academy Abuja claiming the players are their bonafide players who have already been traded off to their partners Spezia.

Owngoalnigeria.com knowledge of the issue is that the duo asked Spezia to increase their proposed salary which the Serie B side did, but still it wasn’t close to what the agent of the pair demanded.

Shittu took over the management of the duo shortly after they won the Under-17 World Cup in 2015, and only recently they were part of the Nigeria U-20 team that failed to qualify for the 2017 Africa Youth Championship after a 3-4 loss at home to Sudan.

In that vey game Orji scored a second half goal after coming on as a substitute while Michael missed out of the match day squad due to a knock picked up in training.

Celtic of Scotland defender Efe Ambrose has reacted to rumours linking him with a move to Greek side Olympiakos or a possible exit from Celtic Park before the end of the ongoing transfer window.

Ambrose who posted a near faultless performance for Celtic in their 1-1 draw away to Astana of Kazakhstan in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, is reportedly set to be cut loose by the Scottish Champions following their recent capture of Ivorian defender Kolo Toure.

UCL QUALIFIERS: Battle Of Nigerian Trio Ends In Stalemate

The UEFA Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round tie between Olympiakos of Greece and Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva ended in a 0-0 draw, with the Nigerian trio of Brown Ideye, Anthony Nwakaeme and John Ogu failing to hit the back of the net for their respective sides.

Olympiakos had Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye on from the start, but he failed to give them the victory they so much needed at home against the Israeli who had John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme on from the start as well.

Ogu who was on target in their first round 3-2 win over Sheriff lasted the entire duration of the game, putting in a strong shift that saw him booked in the 26th minute while Nwakaeme was on till the final minute of time added on before he was substituted.

Slovak Champions AS Trencin were beaten 0-1 by visiting Polish side Legia Warszawa in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the UEFA Champions League despite parading all four Nigerians on their books.

Trencin started with as many as four Nigerians in Rabiu Ibrahim, Aliko Bala, Samuel Kalu and Maduka Udeh but their presence failed to inspire the home side to victory at the Stadion Pod Dubnom.

Prolific forward Samuel Kalu who has a goal to his name in the qualifying series in the second round tie against Olimpija of Slovenia fired blank for the entire duration of the game.

Daniel Amokachi’s Twins On Trial With Besiktas

Former captain and assistant coach of the Super Eagles Daniel Amokachi, has announced via his facebook page that his twin sons Kalim and Nazim will train with Turkish side Besiktas.

Now 18 they will be hoping to take after their father who made a name for himself playing for Besiktas in Turkey, although only one of them plays same role as him during his playing days. One who predominantly plays with his right foot is a forward while the other a left footer plays as a winger.

Amokachi played for Besiktas from 1996 to 1999 scoring a total of 19 goals for the Turkish giants in 77 games which made him a firm fan favorite at the club and it appears his legendary status has worked in his son’s favour.

The identical twins also spent time on trials with Amokachi’s former side Everton in 2009 training with the Under-13s of the team but were reportedly not offered deals by the club.

43 year old Amokachi is presently the head coach of Finnish second division side JS Hercules.

Former West Ham United forward Emmanuel Emenike scored a brace to fire Fenerbahce to a 2-1 victory over Monaco, In the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

The method been employed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in removing age cheats from the Nigeria U-17 team has been revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com.

The players under the tutelage of coach Manu Garba have been training seriously in Abuja the last two months but most of the players picked up during the one month screening exercise have been decamped due to issues bothering on age falsification.

As many as 14 players have so far been sent parking from the team on account of age cheat as the team step up preparations for their first 2017 Africa U-17 Championship qualifiers against Niger Republic next month.

We gathered most players who falsify their ages are usually in possession of two international passport and with different ages on each but usually bearing same number.

Eagle eyed officials of the NFF usually use the passport number to trace if the player has two passports with different ages and that has so far been working for the football house in their bid to curb the menace of age cheat in Nigeria football.

Criticism Trails Appointment Of Chelsea Ace Mikel As Captain Of Team Nigeria

The appointment of John Obi Mikel as captain of the entire contingent of Nigeria delegation to the Olympics in Rio has continue to divide opinion among sports loving Nigerians.

Chelsea star Mikel was yesterday officially named as captain of Team Nigeria for Rio 2016 Olympics and the decision has been hailed by some but condemned as well by some other section.

While a particular set believe he is about Nigeria’s biggest sport star at the moment others argued it should have been given to the oldest member of the Nigerian contingent to the Olympics.

The oldest Olympian in the Nigerian team is Table Tennis star Segun Toriola who is set to feature in his seventh Olympics for Nigeria after first appearing at the 1992 edition.

Some argued just as Mikel was appointed as captain of the senior national team of Nigeria due to his longevity in the team, Toriola should be made the captain of the Nigerian team as he is presently the oldest member of Team Nigeria.

Mikel one of the two overage players in the Nigerian football team will also captain the Under-23s male football team of Nigeria at the Rio Olympics but this will be his maiden participation at the games after pulling out of the 2008 edition in Beijing due to club commitments.
