Fresh from beating allegations that he was involved in illegal betting and still under investigation by the police Maduka Okoye has landed in another trouble with the authority in Italy, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Okoye who only recently returned to full first team training two days ago, after making a full recovery from a wrist injury was named in the Super Eagles 39 man list for the world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively.

Recent reports from Italy has it that the 25 year old was arrested by the police driving in an unregistered car without insurance and also not in possession of a driving license. He was fined for the offence further adding to the controversies he has been involved in this year.

Before the betting allegations, he was alleged by his partner Jelicia Westhoff of physical abuse and throwing her out in the cold with their child on social media. She later retracted the claims and apologized to the shot stopper.

He is now expected to focus on reclaiming his number one spot at Udinese, and also prove his fitness in order to be named in the Super Eagles final 23 man list for the games of the world cup qualifiers in March.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has made public the list of 39 players called for the upcoming world cup qualifiers games by head coach of the team Eric Chelle, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Chelle picked a large 39 man list with new players starting from goalkeeper Kayode Bankole to new defenders in Igho Ogbu of Czech Republic side Slavia Praha and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi of Enugu Rangers as we exclusively reported yesterday.

Tanzania based goalkeeper Amass Obasogie made the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Obasogie who has been a part of the team for the past one year while at Nigeria Premier Football League side Bendel Insurance moved to Ethiopian side Fasil Kenema last year, before moving to Tanzanian side Singida SC in February.

He is expected to be the backup to first choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali due to the expected absence of Maduka Okoye who was preferred ahead of him in the final game of the AFCON qualifiers in the absence of Nwabali.

His aim is to force his way into the set-up of new coach Eric Chelle and possibly make his long awaited debut for the team in one of the games in the month of March.

Fresh from scoring a wonder goal against Osasuna for his loan side Valencia Sadiq Umar has been included in the Super Eagles squad for the world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe receptively.

We can exclusively reveal that the lanky forward is in the list of five forwards for the game, which includes a first time invitation for Genk of Belgium forward Tolu Arokodare, Southampton Paul Onuachu, Victor Boniface and the first choice striker Victor Osimhen.

The former captain of the senior national team of Nigeria John Obi Mikel has picked the one player in the Super Eagles team that has a big game mentality as they head into two crucial games in the world cup qualifiers, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Mikel who now runs a podcast played with most of the senior players in the team in a distinguished national team career that saw him win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, and also played in two world cup tournaments.

He is backing the team to get back to winning ways when they resume their campaign in the 2026 world cup qualifiers with games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively, later this month under new coach Eric Chelle.

Speaking ahead of both games Mikel said the Super Eagles often do well with their back against the wall, and expects it to be the case when they play in both games looking for a first win in the series. A poor run that has left them 5th in the six team group and four points behind the leaders Rwanda.

” I expect Super Eagles to win both games even though it hasn’t been the best of start to the qualifiers. The players know the consequences of missing out on another world cup and won’t want a repeat. ” In the team we have players with huge mentality for games like this. Moses Simon is one player I know that has such character. I never liked playing against him in training. The managing director of sport at Bayer Leverkusen has lashed out at the behavior of Victor Boniface in their 4-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt when he had a heated exchange with his teammate Emiliano Buendia during the course of the game.

Boniface who saw a move to Saudi Arabia side Al-Nassr collapse at the final minute hasn’t found his way back into the starting lineup, and over the weekend he started from the bench for the third game in a row.

Managing director of the club Simon Rolfes lamented the act of Boniface pushing Buendia, even though he admitted that he likes when players show desire to win. “We want a team that’s ‘alive’, but Boni doesn’t have to push him away”, he said.

The head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle will make public his list of invited players for the world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively public later this week, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

A total of 35 players received provisional invitation for both games, but that number has been trimmed to 24 and submitted to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for scrutiny by the technical department.

Goalkeepers: While many will like to see Adebayo Adeleye back in the team owing to his spectacular performances in Cyprus this season. It might be a bit too early for Chelle to take a decision.
