Injured Super Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick says he will be fit and ready in March, when the Super Eagles of Nigeria begin the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Fredrick broke into the team at the Unity Cup friendly tournament in England, and kept his spot all through the final four world cup qualifiers games, and also played in both games in the world cup qualifiers playoff.
He got injured in November while training with Belgium side FC Dender, where he is on loan from English Premier League side Brentford. He underwent surgery hence missed out on selection for the AFCON.
In an exclusive conversation with OwnGoalNigeria.com Fredrick says his rehabilitation is going on fine, and he is expected to be back running on the pitch as soon as he gets the go ahead from the doctors.
” I am doing well after the surgery but it’s too early to put a timeline on when I will fully return. It’s up to the doctors to decide which I can’t help but stay calm for their directive”, Fredrick said.
When he got injured, it was said that he will be out for three months. A timeline which he says is very realistic and will make him available for the Super Eagles when they begin the qualifiers for the AFCON.
” Like I said it’s all on the doctors, but the timeline you gave is really possible and hopefully it will all go according to plan by the grace of God”, he concluded.
