Explaining the choice of Bosso, a senior board member of the NFF said it’s a case of the departure from the norm that age group teams must win tournaments before they are considered as successful.

He said the criteria that they are primarily using to gauge National team coaches is first of all, the progression of the players in the team and so far Bosso has succeeded in that regard.

The team will now regroup for camping in September as Bosso proposed early camping in order to be able to see the best of the boys before the start of qualifiers in February next year.

“It is a big challenge to play against Egypt in the first game and a player like Mohamed Salah,” Rohr told Espn.

“It is a big challenge for all our defence and also for all our team. We will defend collectively against him of course, and we are growing together since a few years now and I believe our defence is able to be efficient against such a fantastic player.”

Nigeria will open their campaign in group D against Egypt before taking on Sudan and finally Guinea Bissau, Rohr said the aim is to win the first two games and secure progress to the next round as it will afford him the chance to play some players who didn’t get to play in the first two games.

“I would like to win against the first two teams, and then I can bring in the third game, as I did in the last Afcon, the substitutes, and give rest to our starting players from the first two matches.

“If we win the first two matches it is not a problem, we are qualified and then we can change our team. But of course, nobody will be underrated, and we are not afraid of anybody.
“I think that the most important is to start well the competition. We will be very, very well prepared. We need to be ready for this first match against Egypt in Garoua.”

“The draw is very difficult. We will face Egypt and Nigeria, who are two of the candidates to win the title, in my opinion.

“Guinea-Bissau is also a young and good team, and they have always been in the tournament in recent years,” he added.

“Our confrontation with Egypt will be awaited by the Sudanese people, and the Egyptian people, because it is my path between brothers.”

Speaking further in an interview on Filgol.com, the Frenchman said his team will first of all aim to win their first game against Guinea Bissau as their aim is to skip the group stages.

Our ambition is to skip the group stage and get far in the tournament, but we have to win first against Guinea-Bissau and then we’ll see what happens”.

On plans to strengthen his squad before the start of the tournament, the coach said he has some players he is trying to convince to switch allegiance to the team, top of which is former Germany youth international Hany Mukhtar who now plays in the MLS for Nashville SC.

“We have some players abroad that we are trying to convince them to represent the national team, such as Hani Mukhtar (a Sudanese father and a German mother, and he plays for the Nashville team in America), and we are in advanced discussions with him and we hope that an agreement will be reached soon.”

Chukwueze Facing Bleak Future At Villarreal Following Signing Of Ex Super Eagles Target Danjuma

The future of Samuel Chukwueze appears to be away from Villarreal following the decision of the club to sign Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma.

Danjuma caught the eyes of coach Unai Emery with his performance for the English Championship side with 15 goal and seven assists in 33 games. His signing is coming at time when there are doubts over the future of Chukwueze.

Born to a Nigerian mother and a Dutch father in the ancient city of Kaduna state in Nigeria, he turned down the chance to play for Nigeria two years ago and committed his future to the Netherlands, where got just two caps.

The Nigeria international is reportedly not in the good books of Emery who is keen on moving him on in order to bring in players who are good for his system of play.

Still out injured since last season during the course of the Europa League semi final game against Arsenal, he has been offered to teams around Europe but no firm bid yet for his service.

Lille were the closest to a deal to sign him permanently but we gathered they later insisted on a loan with the option of signing him permanently next season. A move which Villarreal rejected as they want the cash from his proposed sale to bolster their squad.
