Ex Nigeria U17 Star Musa Yahaya Joins Vizela On Free Transfer From FC Porto

Former Nigeria U17 and U20 winger Musa Yahaya has joined second division Portuguese side Vizela from FC Porto, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.

Musa starred for Nigeria at the 2013 U-17 World Youth Championship where Nigeria emerged as champions and he was subsequently among the players elevated to the 2015 U20 team.

The 22 year old joined FC Porto after a successful season on loan to Portimonense from the youth team of English side Tottenham Hotspur. He joined the B team with a view of making it to the first team.

However after three years with the team with a total of over a 100 games for the B team, the closest he has come to playing for the main team is by getting involved in training sessions.

At the start of this summer, he agreed to mutually terminate his deal at Porto paving the way for his move to Vizela where his ex Porto teammate Chidera Ezeh plays for at the moment.

Ezeh was also a member of the 2013 all conquering Nigeria U17 team under the guidance of coach Manu Garba.

After two training sessions, the newly invited players of the senior national team of Nigeria are slowly coming to terms with the demands of coach of the team Gernot Rohr.

Chidera Ejuke – As usual he has shown why he is so highly rated with his dribbling and abilities to wriggle out of tight spaces. Still need to work on his final ball but he was particularly impressive yesterday during the game they had on a mini pitch.

Frank Onyeka – Took a knock in yesterday’s game when he attempted to intercept a pass. Ended the session with bandages around his knee but it looks like nothing serious. Looks very much like a player who is happy to put his body where it hurts.

Zaidu Sanusi- Solid in going forward and assured in possession. Didn’t look out of place at all. Knows when to defend and when to attack. His movement on and off the ball was the main area of his game that showed all through the session.

Cyriel Dessers: The goal scorer wasn’t among the goals in yesterday’s session but he was very lively and impressive during the shooting practice. His ability to use his body was also impressive all through the session.

Samson Tijani – A whole lot different from the player that played at the 2019 U17 World Cup. He has improved his reading of the game and also hit a sweet effort which resulted in one of the goals that handed his team a 4-1 win during the session.

The details of how players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria acquitted themselves in their second training session which took place yesterday evening has been revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com.

The session which had all invited players in attendance started with the players having the usual warm up sessions before proceeding to some technical drills.

While the outfield players were engaged in ball works , the goalkeepers were made to undergo drills at one side of the pitch under the supervision of Alloy Agu and Enrico Pionetti.

After a while, they were made to engage each other in mini pitch game with coach Gernot Rohr splitting the team into two groups for the game.

Captain of the team Ahmed Musa led one of the teams while the vice captain William Troost Ekong was made the leader of the other team. The session lasted for one hour.

Musa who only recently joined the team stole the show with two well taken brace and he showed no sign of a player who hasn’t played football at club level for one month. He was sharp, quick and he took his chances very well.

The captain was in same team as Samuel Chukwueze who although didn’t get among the goals showed why he is so highly rated with dazzling skills and also set up two goals.

Genk of Belgium attacking duo Cyriel Dessers and Paul Onuachu were paired in same team but it was Onuachu who had the last laugh with a goal for his team who were roundly beaten 1-4.

Dessers who is new in the team struggled to get going but during the shooting practice he was by far one of the most impressive with the way his effort hit their target.

The players of the senior national team of Nigeria has a mini training game in their second training session as preparations for their upcoming game against Tunisia hots up.

After their morning session, the boys were back again for their second session which included a small pitch test game supervised by coach of the team Gernot Rohr.

Rohr lined the players up into two different teams and watched on as they take on each other. Captain of the team Ahmed Musa who joined them earlier today stole the show with a brace.

Samson Tijani was also on target for the Ahmed Musa led team while Paul Onuachu who also joined the team earlier today scored what ended as consolation for his team.

Alloy Agu and Pionetti Enrico drilled the four goalkeepers in camp namely Tobias Lawal , Maduka Okoye, Dele Alampasu and Matthew Yakubu.

All four goalkeepers made a good impression during the training but the duo of Yakubu and Lawal stood out with two special qualities.

Yakubu was so good with his distribution during the test game that many including coach Gernot Rohr had to ask him why he decided to be a goalkeeper instead of an outfield player.

On his part Lawal was so smooth in his handling of shots and after a finger tip save the other goalkeepers had to applaud his tremendous reach.

For now while Okoye is still the favorite to start in goal, the performance of the above mentioned duo have no doubt given coach of the team Gernot Rohr a tough decision to make when it comes to picking his first choice.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria had their first training session in Austria ahead of their game against Tunisia and Algeria and details of the session has been made known to Owngoalnigeria.com.

Coach of the team Gernot Rohr joined the team in the work out at the start of training before the boys were put through their paces in batches with the goalkeepers having a different session under Alloy Agu.

Outfield players were made to play against themselves in a mini test game to ease them into the session which is expected to be more intense later this evening.

One of the players who stood out was Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi with his decision making in tight spaces helping his team to keep hold of possession.

Samuel Kalu also impressed with his quick feet as he glide past his markers with ease despite the tight space they were made to train.

Kalu’s close oak and fellow winger Moses Simon was his usual self turning defence into attack with his pace and strength. He scored a grounder to round up a very lively session.

Newly invited German-Nigerian defender Kevin Akpoguma also won the admiration of his teammates with his ability to defend and also join the attack. He was also very neat and tidy with the ball at his feet.

Later today, the team will have their second training session as they continue their build up to the first game against Tunisia on the 9th of October.

Hoffenheim of Germany defender Kevin Akpoguma made an instant impression on
players of the senior national team of Nigeria in the first training session of the team ahead of their friendly games.

Nigeria are In Austria for games against Tunisia and later Algeria as part of their preparations for competitive games in November.

Following the arrival of all but two of the players invited for the game, coach Gernot Rohr led the boys out for their first training session which was mild despite the fact that the boys were made to play a small test game.

Four players of the team spoke with Owngoalnigeria.com after the session and all three were full of praises for new boy Akpoguma who only recently got his switch approved by FIFA.

“ He showed smart sense on the ball and his tackles are neat. I like his strength as well and he didn’t act as if he is new in the team the way he interacted with everyone “, one of the players said.

Speaking in same vein another player told this portal that the most fascinating thing about the German Nigerian defender was how he slotted easily into the demands of coach Rohr.

“ Some of us are used to the drills because we have been in the team for a while and most times we put the new ones through it but that wasn’t the case with Kevin. He just flowed with everything”, he said.

The other two players were excited over his presence with one going as far as saying he is so vocal and committed during training making him to wonder how he will be in match situation.

Frank Onyeka Staying At Midtjylland As Deadline Day Move Collapse Over €20 Million Transfer Fee

22 year old newly invited Nigeria international midfielder Frank Onyeka will be staying at Danish side Midtjylland as his planned move away from the club didn’t beat the deadline for transfers.

Onyekuru agreed terms with Club Brugge of Belgium but a transfer fee wasn’t agreed with Midtjylland insisting on a fee in excess of €20 million for the midfielder.

Prior to the late move my Brugge, Onyeka was tracked by a team in Germany who were willing to commit €7 million to sign him but his Danish team remained adamant on the fee that they want.

His representative was so sure that a deal has been reached with the German side and told Owngoalnigeria.com that the player has gotten his wish to leave the club but the move didn’t work.

Speaking to same portal, he said the idea is now to move in January where he will be hoping that a move will be a lot easier as Onyeka would have played in the UEFA Champions League for Midtjylland.

“ Yes. There was no compromise as both sides were too far apart in their valuation of Onyeka. Unfortunately only one side agree to shift ground. What remains is to focus on the Champions League games till December and we will see”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com

CAF Grants Nigeria Till December To Raise U20 Team, Bosso Given Till November To Raise U20

The Confederation of African Football ( CAF) have agreed to the demand of Nigeria to extend the dates of the zonal elimination tournament which serves as qualifiers for the U17 and U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

WAFU sort for the tournament dates to be extended due to the coronavirus crisis and CAF yield in to their request giving them the go ahead to shift both tournaments to new dates.

The U17 qualification tournament will now hold from the 5th of December to 20th in Benin Republic meaning the newly appointed coach of the Nigerian team Fatai Amoo and his crew have around two months to raise a team.

WAFU also announced that the U20 qualification tournament will now hold from the 14th to 29th of November in Togo leaving coach Ladan Bosso of the Nigerian team a month plus to raise a team.

At the U17 level Nigeria who are the defending champions will be in Pot B as the seeded team while host Benin Republic will be in Pot A as the the seeded team.

Host of the U20 zonal elimination Togo will take the first Pot of A as the seeded team while Nigeria who were third at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations last year will be in Pot B as the seeded team.
