More Minutes For Nigeria Than His Club Post AFCON – 27 Year Old Super Eagles Star No Longer Wanted

0

All is not rosy for Kelechi Iheanacho at English Championship side Leicester City, who are pushing for promotion back to the English Premier League, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Iheanacho who was a member of the senior national team of Nigeria to the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations has fallen out of favour in the eyes of coach Enzo Maresca since returning from the tournament, where Nigeria finished second.

The 27 year old defied the instructions of the team not to attend the tournament as he isn’t fully fit. He went and didn’t get involved for Nigeria until the semi final. It appears that move has now placed him in a fix at his club.

Since his return from the AFCON he has only played 28 minutes of football and he has missed out on the matchday squad entirely five times and made the substitute bench twice. As a matter of fact he has played more minutes for Nigeria, where he played the entire duration of their both post AFCON friendly games against Ghana and Mali respectively.

It is believed his contract situation is also part of the reason why he is frozen out at the moment, as he will be out of contract in the summer meaning he can join a club of his choice in June.

He Didn’t Feel Wanted – Agent Laments Poor Treatment Of 24 Year Old By Finidi In Recent Super Eagles Friendlies

The recently concluded international break saw the Super Eagles of Nigeria play two friendly games under the guide of interim head coach of the team Finidi George, following the departure of head coach Jose Peseiro upon the expiration of his contract in February.

Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 before losing 0-2 to Mali in their second game of the break. The games were meant to try out players who were not part of the team for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), as it is the only window available before the resumption of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

A total of 22 players were available for the game, and a window of making seven substitutions per game, but despite that Finidi made use of only two substitutes in the game against Mali.

His action meant four players in Nathan Tella, Olorunleke Ojo, Alhassan Yusuf, Sadiq Umar and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru didn’t get a minute of action in both games during their break. That act didn’t go down with the representative of Tella.

The 24 year old has been involved in the fantastic run of Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga where they are three games away from winning the league, and in the German Cup where they are through to the final. They are also in the quarter final of the Europa League.

Tella who has five goals and two assists this season has one cap for Nigeria, and was unhappy that he couldn’t add another during the international break for reasons that wasn’t communicated to him by the head coach.

” No reason was given to him (Tella) by the coach. Not even a word of encouragement after the disappointment. He arrived in the camp with his spirit really high but left felling unwanted. He probably has lost the chance of getting into the squad for the world cup qualifiers in June. He will however keep doing his best”, his representative told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

NFF Chief Hint On Who Is Leading The Race To Be New Super Eagles Coach – The Portuguese Has An Edge

0

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will likely appoint a new coach for the senior national team of Nigeria before end of this month to replace Jose Peseiro, who left his role upon the expiration of his contract at the end of February, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

As many as seven coaches have been shortlisted for the job by the NFF, and we exclusively gathered that the list has three foreign coaches and four indigenous coaches with interview set to be conducted in the coming weeks.

Among the foreign coaches who applied for the job is former coach of the senior national team of Cameroon Antonio Conceição. The coach according to a chieftain of the NFF is currently having an edge over applicants based on what they stipulated as requirements to clinch the job.

” The Portuguese ( Conceição) has an edge I can’t deny because among all the coaches he is the one who is top in the area of a proven track record in Africa, which is one of the things we listed as an added advantage for the job. However so many things will still be considered before a final decision is taken”, he said on the condition of anonymity.

He however said regardless of who get appointed, the interim head coach of the team Finidi George will still remain as a part of the backroom staff of the team for the sake of helping the new coach get used to the players in the setup and the system.

” Finidi will stay in the job regardless, unless he says no. The reason is that we want someone who has worked with the team before to be a part of the setup to help the new coach because we don’t have another game before the resumption of the 2026 World cup qualifiers in June”, he concluded.

Defeat To Mali Sees Super Eagles Drop To 30th In Latest Ranking Released By FIFA

0

The 0-2 defeat suffered by the senior national team of Nigeria in the hands of Mali during the recently concluded international break has proved costly as they have dropped from 28th to 30th in the latest ranking released by world football governing body FIFA.

Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 before succumbing to a 0-2 defeat to Mali. The points gained from the win over Ghana was dwarfed by the point loss by the defeat to Mali, owing to the fact that they are ranked higher than Ghana.

It means the Super Eagles lost more points than they gained, but nonetheless they still retain their spot as the third best team in Africa behind the duo of Morocco (13th) and Senegal (17th).

Egypt (37th), Cote d’Ivoire (38th) and Tunisia (41st) round up the rest of the top five on the African continent.

Meanwhile, world champions Argentina remain the number one ranked nation, followed by France, Belgium, England and Brazil.

He Didn’t Fancy Him – Agent Reveals How Ex Super Eagles Coach Snubbed Free Scoring Ajax Number 10

0

One player who wasn’t lucky to get a look in during the tenure of Jose Peseiro as coach of the senior national team of Nigeria has to be Ajax number 10 Chuba Akpom, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Akpom has hit a rich vein of form at Ajax after a slow start to his career with the Dutch giants following his move from English Championship side Middlesbrough where he was finished as top scorer and most valuable player (MVP) of the English second tier.

The 28 year old has already completed a switch of nationality process from England to Nigeria for the past three years, but hasn’t been called up yet although it was only last season that he really got his club career up and running.

His representative claimed erstwhile coach of the team Jose Peseiro wasn’t quite keen on having him in the team, saying it wasn’t a case of the coach not being aware of the fact that he is eligible to play for Nigeria.

” The first contact happened after the season he had at Middlesbrough, but then his Nigerian passport wasn’t ready and when he finally got one, Peseiro was informed but he didn’t fancy having him in his team but there is enough time, and all he has to do is to maintain his current run of form for his club”, he said.

He Will End Up Playing For Nigeria – Journalist Makes Bold Prediction About England U21 Star Player

0

As many as three players who have represented England at youth levels have ended up playing for the senior national team of Nigeria and it appears that number is about to swell by one, OwnGoalNigeria.comreports.

Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and Ademola Lookman all played for England at youth levels before making the switch to the senior national team of Nigeria, meanwhile the likes of Joe Aribo, Calvin Bassey and  Osayi-Samuel were all eligible for England before deciding to pledge their future to the senior national team of Nigeria.

They have all established themselves as full time internationals with the senior national team of Nigeria, paving the way for others who are also in the same situation to toe the same line in the nearest future.

According to Mark John who covers Chelsea exclusively, one England U21 player he is so sure will make the jump to the Super Eagles in a not too distant future is Noni Madueke, who is presently the star in the English U21 setup.

During the last international break, he scored twice in a 7-1 rout of Luxembourg which keeps their hope of making it to the U21 Euros alive. Madueke has established himself as the star of the team but John says he sees his future with the senior national team of Nigeria.

” I really think he won’t get into the England setup anytime soon and that will accelerate his decision making if the option of playing for Nigeria is still on the table. He is still only 22 but he is very ambitious. I don’t see him waiting for long before taking the next option for his international career. I personally see him playing for Nigeria in the immediate than England and I believe he knows that as well”, he rounded up saying.

Three Germany Youth International Keen On Committing Their Future To Super Eagles

0

As many as three players who have been involved with the youth team of Germany have indicated their interest to pledge their senior international future to the senior national team of Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria. com reports.

Nigeria have in the past lure players of Nigerian heritage from Germany with Leon Balogun, Kevin Akpoguma, Maduka Okoye and Jordan Torunarigha all making the switch.

It appears more players will soon join the train with reports from Germany saying Werder Bremen right back Felix Agu, who snubbed a chance to play for Nigeria three years ago when Gernot Rohr was in charge of the team now willing to dorn the Super Eagles shirt.

The 24 year old is hoping to make the switch alongside his club teammate Justin Njinmah, who has also openly voiced his readiness to play for Nigeria with little or no hope of getting into the Germany set up.

We also gathered that Augsburg defender Felix Uduokhai is another who is only waiting to be contacted before he starts the process of a switch of nationality. The 26 year old was also approached by erstwhile Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr three years ago.

All three are now open to making the switch to play for Nigeria, a decision which will be made by whoever takes over as the coach of the team later this month, with Jose Peseiro’s departure leaving the post vacant.

He Can Play For Nigeria – Coach Of Bournemouth Wade Into England Snubbing Striker With 16 Goals This Season

0

The coach of Bournemouth Andoni Iraola has added his voice to the continuos snub of Dominic Solanke by the head coach of England despite his 16 goals in the English Premier League, OwnGoalNigeria.comreports.

Solanke hasn’t added to his one cap picked up for England in 2017 and with the Euros on the horizon, the 26 year old wasn’t considered for the English national team last round of matches before the tournament begins in Germany.

*It means his chances of going to the Euros is now very slim, but Iraola believe it’s nothing to do with the talent of the gangling forward rather it’s about the choice of the coach”, the coach said ahead of yesterday’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

“It’s not a matter of goals. It’s not like ‘I have to score 20 goals to make my presence kind of mandatory’.

“No, it’s a matter of playing well, because I’m sure it’s not like Gareth Southgate is just looking at the numbers, he will be looking at the performances. His performance has been very, very good since the beginning of the season.

“But also we have to understand the national team manager has a very, very difficult job to do, because the others he selects are also very, very good players.

“So it’s a matter of who fits better in his system, who he trusts more more. But it’s obvious that Dom Solanke is doing his merits to have a chance with the national team”

Despite having one senior cap for England, Solanke is still eligible for the senior national team of Nigeria and posted pictures of himself watching the team at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations on his social media handle.

Top matches in England and a big announcement in League 1: 1xBet reveals this week’s main games

0

Players often ask: what is the key in sports betting? The reliable bookmaker 1xBet is sure that only responsible gambling brings real pleasure and profit. We present you with the most exciting struggles of the week and encourage you to consider betting as a hobby and not a source of permanent income.

April 3, Manchester City v Aston Villa

Watching the clash between tactical geniuses Guardiola and Emery is always interesting. After the defeat by Tottenham and a draw with West Ham, Aston Villa eventually said goodbye to their title dreams, but it is not the case when an upstart team is shown its place. The Lions are still strong, ready to preserve their place in the top 4 and the next Champions League.

Man City’s draw with Arsenal hurt the champion’s chances of defending the Premier League crown, but the Citizens cannot afford two unimpressivematches in a row. Villa’s defense is rather unreliable, and Erling Haaland will try to make up for several unsuccessful games at the Etihad. In addition, positional attack is not the main trump card of the Birmingham team, so Guardiola will probably return to more familiar attacking schemes.

1xBet offers to take a risk and bet on Emery’s squad with 10.2 odds or make a confident prediction on City with 1.313 odds. If you are sure there will be a draw, you can increase your bet by 6.41 times.

April 4, Chelsea v Manchester United

The big announcement features two losers of the Premier League season. Erikten Hag’s team has many problems: it is approaching the main struggle withonly two full-backs, and Rasmus Højlund has not yet recovered from injury. Still, Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez, and Casemiro have returned to the pitch, strengthening the defense and midfield.

Chelsea is having a controversial season. There are plenty of talented footballers, but at decisive moments, everything rests solely on Cole Palmer’s shoulders, who tries hard but cannot constantly achieve victories on his own. Most likely, Pochettino will have another chance to make a champion squad next season, but for now, the Aristocratsmain goal is to build on the young players and finish the season on a positive note.

1xBet analysts give preference to the home team in this game. You can bet onChelsea with 2.066 odds, while the odds for United are 3.37. A successful draw prediction will increase your bet by 4.265 times.

April 5, LOSC Lille v Marseille

Thanks to a reliable home performance, the 2020/21 French champion is in the Champions League zone and claims to win the Conference League. At the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium, even PSG could not win against LOSC Lille (by theway, 1xBet is the official betting partner of both clubs), and the only misfire forthe entire season happened in the match with Reims.

Marseille got carried away with the Europa League struggle, spectacularlybeating Villarreal, but in the Ligue 1, things are much worse for Jean-Louis Gasset’s squad. They lost their last two games and dropped to 7th place, risking being left out of the Champions League.

1xBet analysts are inclined to the home team’s victory in this match and offer tobet on LOSC Lille with 2.28 odds. The odds for the guests are 3.365. A successful draw prediction will increase the bet amount by 3.57 times.
