Chidozie Awaziem Becomes Boavista Record Signing Following Permanent Transfer From Porto

Nigeria international Chidozie Awaziem has joined Boavista on a permanent deal from FC Porto after a successful loan spell, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Boavista trigger the option of signing the 24 year old defender permanently for a fee which is twice the amount they have ever paid for any player in their history.

With as many as 27 games under his belt this season , Boavista wasted no time in signing him permanently for €5 million from Porto where he has been since 2015.

He rose from Porto B to the main team but after a series of game in his breakthrough season he failed to stamp his authority in subsequent seasons leading to several loans.

This season he has emerged as one of the leaders for Boavista who where confirmed save from relegation last week. He wore he captain armband for the team this season.

The Ligue 1 season is over for Nigeria international Samuel Kalu according to coach of Bordeaux Jean-Louis Gasset, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.

Kalu has been out injured for one month and although he returned to training last week he is still not going to take part in Bordeaux final game of the season against Reims.

Gasset explained that just like Hatem Ben Arfa Kalu who has missed 15 games this season due to injury won’t be risked for the dead rubber die as Bordeaux have achieved their major aim of the season which is beating the drop to Ligue 2.

” Hatem will not be in the group, but just like Samuel Kalu . He had a muscle problem that has not been able to resolve. He still has edema. He will not be with us”, the coach said.

23 year old Kalu has played 20 games this season for Bordeaux with four goals and one assists to his name. Injury and fitness issues have so far limited him to just 12 games for the senior national team of Nigeria, he has two international goals from the games.

Ex FC Ifeanyi Ubah Forward Uche Sebastian Signs For Norwegian Side Stabaek

Norway top division side Stabaek have announced the signing of former FC Ifeanyi Ubah forward Uche Sebastian on loan with the option to buy.

The club announced the signing of the 20 year old on a short term deal which will run till the 30th of August where a permanent deal will likely be on the table if he impresses.

He caught the attention of of followers of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last season while at FC Ifeanyi Ubah with his brace against Warri Wolves and a solitary strike against Enyimba.

The Sporting Director of the Norwegian side Torgeir Bjarmann while speaking on the forward said they have scouted him for a while describing him as a player who has good speed and power.

“ Uche was scouted a while ago. We have really just been waiting for an opportunity to get him in. He has good speed and he is powerful due to his weight when in the box”, he told the official website of the club.

Already a first game between both countries will take place on the 4th of June but after failing to secure another friendly with a different country, they will take on same opponent at same venue four days later.

Fresh from scoring twice yesterday for Anderlecht in a 3-3 draw against Club Brugge, Lukas Nmecha has revealed why he is keen on pursuing an international career with Germany instead of switching to Nigeria.

The 22 year old who is on loan from Manchester City to the Belgium side has impressed this season with 18 goals in 36 games, a form which has led to talks about handing him a first team spot at Manchester City next season.

However, his international future is one which has generated concerns as he was born in Germany to Nigerian parents but grew up in England making him eligible for all three nations.

He started by representing England at U17 and U19 level before switching to Germany where he has 9 goals for their U21. He recently said he has been approached by Nigeria over a switch to the senior national team.

Quizzed on the possibility of making the switch, the attacker explained why he fancies his chances more with Germany than Nigeria for the main time.

“ I am known to the set up in Germany and that will make the transition to the first team a lot easier. Not saying it’s a must but to me I see it as a step away from the first team”, he said.

“Even if I switch to Nigeria it’s not like I will get to play immediately. They have a team of good players in my position so it’s going to be difficult maybe I have to be patient for my chance with Germany the we will see in the future”.

Ahead of the recently announced July 4th friendly game between Nigeria and Mexico coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr has drawn up a list of 23 players for the game in Los Angeles.

Owngoalnigeria.com was the first outlet to report that the game will be prosecuted by largely players from the Nigeria Professional Football League as the foreign based players will at that time be involved in pre season games with their respective teams.

Red hot Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho says the good form of Nigerian strikers across Europe is good for the senior national team of Nigeria as they gear up for the start of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.

Iheanacho who has 12 league goals for Leicester City this season has brought back the form that made him an instant hit with Manchester City when he burst onto the scene.

His return to form coincides with that of first choice striker of the Nigerian team Victor Osimhen who has also hit a purple patch the past few months with ten goals to his name for Napoli.

Paul Onuachu has surpassed all expectations with 34 goals this season for Genk in Belgium while Simy Nwankwo of Crotone has 22 Serie A goals this season.

The above mentioned trio including Terem Moffi who has ten goals for Ligue 1 side Lorient were all called up by coach Gernot Rohr alongside Iheanacho for the upcoming friendly game against Cameroon in June.

While speaking on their form, Iheanacho dismiss notion that he sees them as rivals rather he said it’s good for the team to have several options saying all that is left is for the coach to pick the players he deem fit base on their individual qualities.

“At this time, Nigerian strikers are scoring lot of goals in their team. It’s just funny if I go on social media or something. If I score today I will go on social media and I will see like Nigerian strikers everyone scores and I will be like what’s going on with Nigerian strikers”, he said.

“It’s really good for the country it will help us move forward that is what we need for the country.

The agent behind this weekend scouting tournament in Abuja Babawo Mohammed has revealed the reason why as many as 15 scouts will be in Nigeria for the DN 10 Football Academy in conjunction with TBC Football Club organised event.

Scouts representing 13 European teams and two representing teams from South America will be in Abuja for the tournament which begins on Sunday 23rd of Mayand it will run till the 28th of same month.

Speaking on the roll call, Babawo explained that the success of previous tournaments is responsible for the interest shown by several scouts in participating in this year tournament.

“ Like I told you few days ago. This is the 7th edition and the success rate speaks for itself. Scouts willingly contacted us over their interest in coming over. The reason is that they are sure they will get what they want at the tournament”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Scouts from Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, Rosenborg of Norway, FK Arda Karzhali of Bulgaria will be in Abuja alongside five from different Turkish teams namely Alanyaspor, Gaziantep, Sivasspor, Kasimpasa and Istanbul Basaksehir.

Scouts from Swedish sides Malmo FF, Hammarby IF, Djurgarden IF and Vasteras SK will be in attendance as well. Two teams from Mexico in Koles De Tijuana and Dorados will be present for the week long tournament.
