Rohr Tells FIFA To Enforce Judgement To Deduct Three Points From South Africa Before September

0

Head coach of the senior national team of Benin Republic Gernot Rohr has called on FIFA to deduct three points, three goals from South Africa before the resumption of games in the world cup qualifiers in September, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

South Africa fielded an ineligible player in Teboho Mokoena in the 2-0 win over Lesotho. A game he should not have played after picking up two yellow cards in previous games, that should have triggered a one match ban.

FIFA have already communicated the infringement to the football association of South Africa, with an explanation on the penalty which will be a three points, three goals deduction. However they are yet to take a firm stand by making it official.

Rohr who is now in charge of Benin Republic was hit with a similar punishment when his Nigerian team lost three points for fielding a player who was supposed to be suspended in a world cup qualifier in 2018.

He is now leading the call for the same fate to be meted to South Africa, which will throw the group open ahead of the next round of games in September.

“I am calling on FIFA to make themselves clear on the points situation in our 2026 FIFAWorldCup qualifying group, as South Africa used an ineligible player in a World Cup qualifier, which means they must lose three points and three goals to the opponent of the said match, Lesotho”, he told veteran Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana from his base in France.

“With the remaining qualifiers set to begin soon, it is imperative, in the interest of fair play, for all the teams in our World Cup qualifying group to know where they legitimately stand, before we start to play.

“I am surprised that FIFA is taking too long to resolve what is a very straightforward matter. It should and must be resolved without further delay.”

Chelle’s Headache – Super Eagles Players Moving From Top European Leagues To Turkey

0

The head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle is finding his task of qualifying Nigeria for the next world cup a bit steep with the decision of top players in the team, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Chelle was appointed to rescue Nigeria’s fading world cup hopes and started off with a win and a draw in his first two games in charge, but they are still six points behind leaders South Africa in their group, where they are presently 4th.

An apostle of having players in top leagues, a reason he gave as partly why he accepted the job of coaching the Super Eagles, it appears to have change in the ongoing transfer window.

A host of the top players in the team led by team’s talisman Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray) have since signed permanent deals with teams in Turkey. He was followed by midfield star and leader Wilfred Ndidi who joined Besiktas.

Lanky forward Paul Onuachu also left relegated Sunderland for Trabzonspor, and he could be joined by the trio of Kelechi Iheanacho, Frank Onyeka and Samuel Chukwueze.

The above mentioned players have all been linked with a move to Turkey before the close of the ongoing summer transfer window. The Turkish league is ranked 9th by UEFA, lower than the leagues from which the Nigerian players were signed from.

We Thrash Super Eagles 4-0 Due to Chelle’s Poor Tactics – Coach Of Sudan Explains CHAN Victory

0

Head coach of the Sudanese team that defeated Nigeria 4-0 at the ongoing CHAN Championship has explained how his team overcame the Nigerians at the tournament.

Defender Leonard Ngenge, culpable for his infamous walking pace while Senegal sped forward to score their only goal in Nigeria’s first match on Tuesday last week, scored an own goal against his team in the 23rd minute, setting the stage for a rout that left ball fans aghast across the land.

Sudan raced to 2-0 up just before half-time when the same Ngenge, who plays for Ikorodu City in the Nigeria Premier Football League, clumsily touched the ball with his hand in an aerial contest, and Daiyeen made no mistake from the spot against the hapless Lawal Mustapha.

Only 10 minutes into the second period, it was 3-0 as Yagoub Omer finished with a flourish after the Sudanese turned the Nigeria defence inside out, and there was no meaningful effort by all of five defenders to checkmate the marauding Falcons of Jediane.

It got worse seven minutes later, when Sudan poured forward again, and Omer showed audacious technique to blast the ball onto the underside of the crossbar and watch it drop into the net behind a beleaguered Mustapha.

While admitting that the 4-0 scoreline was flattering , a result which effectively knocked Nigeria out of the tournament as they also lost their first game of the tournament.

The coach however revealed that they got the win because of the poor tactics employed by the coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle, who was drafted to the team to replace the duo of Fidelis Ikechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede, who were in charge during the qualifiers.

“ I wasn’t expecting that scoreline. I knew we could beat Nigeria but not by that scoreline (4-0). The Nigerian team is not that bad. They just need some tactical improvement.” – Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah revealed.

Coach Of AC Milan Okays Number 10 Role For Nigeria U20 Midfielder After Performance Against Chelsea

0

Head coach of AC Milan Massimo Allegri has approved a first team midfield role for Nigeria U20 midfielder Victor Eletu in the first team of the club, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The midfielder signed an extension to his stay at the club last week shunning advances ftom top teams around Europe, who were keen on signing him as a free agent.

In their proposal to the 20 year old, they promised him a path to the first team, and have so far kept to it with game time against Leeds United and Chelsea respectively.

He did enough to convince the coach that he deserves a spot in the midfield as a potential replacement for Luka Modric, when the maestro hangs his boot in two years time.

Eletu will get more training time with the first team, even though he will play games with the U23s to keep him match fit.

Chelle Add 15 Year Goalkeeper To Super Eagles B Squad For CHAN After Opening Defeat To Senegal

0

Head coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle has handed a call up to Nigeria U20 goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt to join the team at the ongoing CHAN Championship after their opening defeat against Senegal, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Nigeria were beaten 1-0 by Senegal in their opening game with goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal not covering himself in glory with his decision to rush out of his box, although he wasn’t helped by the centre defence duo of Junior Nduka and Leonard Ngenge, who were all over the place.

Chelle however didn’t make the choice of calling Harcourt based on that, but primarily due to the fact that the other goalkeeper Ani Ozoemena was injured although he is back in training.

The coach is a huge admirer of the young goalkeeper after his exploits with the Nigeria U20 team at the U20 AFCON. He is seen as the next big thing in goal for Nigeria.

His presence will not just be for cover, as he might be given game time if he shows the same form that made the coach to pick a strong interest in him.

Boniface Risk Expulsion From Super Eagles For Criticising Commitment Of His Teammates – NFF

0

A top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface could be expelled from the senior national team of Nigeria following his recent interview where he criticised the commitments of his teammates, when they play for Nigeria.

Boniface in an interview last week lamented the attitude of some of his teammates, while on international duty saying they don’t care if the team wins or loses.

“If some of my teammates are going to the national team, they feel like, we go, we play, whether we win or lose, it doesn’t matter,” Boniface said on The Culture League podcast.

“I am always trying to say to them, we are millions in Nigeria. I think in Africa, we have the highest population.”

Reacting a board member of the NFF said they have listened to the interview and have told head coach Eric Chelle to institute disciplinary actions against the 24 year old, which could lead to a possible exclusion from the team.

Chelle was said to be very unhappy with the interview, particularly from a player who already divides opinion in the team owing to his lack of efforts as seen in the last game against Russia, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

NFF on their part want him expelled from the team, because of the bad blood his interview has created in the squad after discussion with some senior players in the team. They want a happy and united team as they head into the crucial stages in the world cup qualifiers.

Historic challenge for Paris Saint-Germain

Luis Enrique has accustomed PSG fans to big wins and all sorts of records. The upcoming match against Spurs is another opportunity to rewrite history by making Paris Saint-Germain the first French club to win the UEFA Super Cup.

Last season, the Red-andBlues won a quadruple, displaying total superiority over their opponents in all key matches. No wonder Luis Enrique’s team was considered a clear favorite to win the Club World Cup in the USA.

The Parisians lived up to expectations, beating Atlético Madrid, Inter Miami and Bayern Munich in the tournament. PSG’s star moment came in the semi-finals when they destroyed Real Madrid 4-0, becoming Xabi Alonso’s nightmare. It seemed that Ousmane Dembélé and his teammates were unstoppable , but in the final game, the French giants faltered, losing 0-3 toChelsea.

PSG’s American trip has once again confirmed the need to strengthen the center -back position. The selection process continues, and the Parisiansmanagement are actively working on the transfer of Illya Zabarnyi, the leader of Bournemouth’s defense. However, if Marquinhos or Willian Pacho miss the Super Cup match, the Red-andBlues will have big problems.

Tottenham’s new era

Last season, Spurs won their first trophy in 17 years, but even that historic achievement didn’t save Ange Postecoglou from being sacked. Daniel Levy refused to accept failure in the Premier League and once again changed the head coach. He entrusted the team to Thomas Frank, who had excelled at Brentford.

The Danish coach decided to go beyond cosmetic renovations and immediately started breaking down the walls at his new club. Tottenham signed two new center-backs, won the battle for Mohammed Kudus, strengthened the midfield with João Palhinha, and bought out the contracts of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel. However, the biggest sensation was the departure of long-time leader and team captain Son Heung-min, who will go to conquer MLS.

Thomas Frank wants to instill in Tottenham a strong and athletic style of football with high defensive organization. The pre-season results show that the players have quickly learnt the new coach’s ideas: Spurs haven’t lost a single friendly game.

The London club approaches the match against Paris Saint-Germain in excellent form and good spirits. Tottenham have never won the UEFA Super Cup before, and now is the right time to rewrite history.
